That's a great thing for those that live in the area. For those like me that live hundreds of miles away, depend upon crappy technology that rarely works, such a luxury is not an option.

At least we have a pretty good rushing offense and a decent rush D. What is very concerning (other than the obvious Passing Defense) is how inconsistent our passing game is. Our third down efficiency is pretty bad and our completion rate isn't what I expected it to be this year. Having a lot of dropped and bad passes.

Really hope things pick up!

Local weather stations had been building it up like today was gonna be a soaker the whole day. The timing actually ended up working out fine for us, but I think it scared a lot of folks off. Opponent doesn't help, and the results of our first games didn't help either. Home games for Alabama and Auburn as well.

Attendance is always something we can talk about, but I didn't really expect much from attendance in this game. Or even this season. Even if we have a string of success, it will take us a while to build up a fan base. But I have no doubt attendance will pick up with success on the field. Just need to get some success on the field first.

Don't really think it mattered, but Auburn's game was in Baton Rouge.

But not much of a home crowd for LSU. The rain scared them away too.

After getting home, I went straight to the thread to find out the score. Up until the 3rd page I honestly thought we were losing or only up by a TD. And I still had to go to ESPN to find the actual score. I swear we have the whiniest fanbase in all of NCAA.

The fans should be upset and whining. We gave up 28 points and 344 yards to an FCS team who only put up 9 on Cincinnati and 23 on 0-4 Missouri State. We easily could have (and should have) won this game by 35+. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we won 03-razz. I just expect more out of Mcgee.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, if everyone was on here talking about how great we looked, what good coaching and how this is the turning point, MB would point out what great fans we all were.

Cincy is most likely a better team than us.

I was both part of the conversation and at the game.

I'm glad for a win of course. But it's an FCS so let's be real. We beat SELA worse than this a year ago.

We shouldn't be giving up 28pts to an FCS. Period.

That won't happen anytime soon.

As this thread proves, most UAB fans suck.

RE: Demons @ Blazers official game thread
I was at the game and managed to to bring someone to fill all my season ticket seats. 02-13-banana I usually pretty positive about everything and try to give the coaches and players the benefit of the doubt. Ultimately, I thought we played pretty well, all things considered.

I just can't agree with intentionally kicking off both halves. That's much like intentionally fumbling the ball or intentionally throwing an interception. What good comes from giving the opposition an extra possession? It's not like our defense didn't have enough time on the field. To do that intentionally is, at very least, a sign of extreme disrespect to the opponent. At worst, it's a boneheaded move that could have cost us the game. 03-banghead

I didn't agree with the decision to go for it on 4th down at midfield when we were up a couple of touchdowns, but I can respect that decision. At least if that one works out, you get a competitive advantage.

Sorry for the rant. I've just been at so many close UAB games where decisions like that have cost us an all-too-rare win. We got away with it against this FCS team, but I hope it never, ever happens again.

Yes, because he did something different and is against what all the experts know is the correct way to do things, McGee cost us the game today. He shoud have played football the way everyone knows it is supposed to happen.

Everyone complained that Callaway was too conservative. Well we have a coach who doesn't play conservative, and everyone is pissed off because he doesn't follow the Roberts Rules Of Football order.

I like that he doesn't play conventional football. I like that he kicked players who thought they were the Big **** off the team. UAB fans need to support him, and quit whining when he does something they don't think is right. His experiment with the coin toss did not costs us at all today.

I have nothing against being innovative, but there are few things that no coach does because it makes absolutely no sense to do them. Occasionally handing the ball over to the other team intentionally is one of those things.

Maybe next week we should have an o-lineman start at QB? And maybe we can let the d-line rotate in for extra points and FG attempts. Or maybe we can intentionally throw a pick 6 on our first play from scrimmage. All of these things make about as much sense.

I too like McGee's aggressiveness, but there are certain things you just shouldn't do. If we lost this game on a last second FG, how would you have felt about his "unconventional" decision?

That and our offense, nor defense has looked disciplined or very fundamentally sound. And I'm not willing to say it's all the "untalented" players fault. The fact is McGees team of this year and last hasn't look all that good since OSU last year. He gets a pass for his first year but isn't the second where you're supposed to see the most improvement? He and the team still have my support but that doesn't mean everything is peachy. For those that say UAB fans are whiny and don't support the coach because they come here to voice their displeasure or opinion, you must be comparing us to the cult followers down the road who never dare to criticize the almighty.
If we would just go out and play sound football I, for one, could stomach losing. Every team can't be a top 25, or 50, team for that matter. But so far that hasn't happened.
Then when it does, and all us whiny fans start to claim "moral victories" for "looking good out there today", Someone will be on here berating us for that.

So, whatever.

I tend to agree. I like a guy who thinks outside the box. The only thing is, McGee has an enormous ego, which is fine. But generally, conventional wisdom is conventional wisdom for a reason. I also realize he's still a pretty new coach, though, and think these things will iron themselves out if he's as smart as I think he is.

Meantime, keep your foot on the gas, coach.

Like you said, MB, we've tried every other way.
