That's a terrible place for a parking deck, especially one that big. Traffic is going to be a nightmare, and eventually that spot on University will be prime real estate. They should push it north a few blocks at least.

Now they really need to do something with the Southtown Projects. That is such an eyesore and this property will be right across the street from the new clinic/parking deck.

I think there is some government regulation or major hoops to jump thru that, for now, won't allow it. Langford tried to move it or the residents and build new apts/condos there and ran into problems. I would imagine the land is quite valuable...

Maybe it will not be too bad a location for the parking deck as long as the put the entry/exit on the North side.

Langford's problem was no one wanted to pay for it.

When the land gets valuable enough they'll do something. All they need to do is be able to provide alternatives for the residents there.

I'm glad that a $50M project is being built downtown, but buidling that monster parking dot as the frontage on the busiest street downtown isn't smart. It makes for an unattractive streetfront and will congest traffic even more.

The 7th Ave S side should receive a boost though with the clinic and a new Wendy's that will be built across the street. Next up, southtown needs to be torn down.

It can be done. I remember them tearing down the old Metropolitan Gardens public housing project, and replacing it with the very nice looking Park Place...........some of MG's residents were relocated in Center Point.

How about this alternative: pay for your own housing like the rest of us
