June Jones doesn't have a great record with OOC BCS teams...

Mustangs are a 2nd half football team. I didnt think we would beat Tulsa last year (had like 1 or 2 losses - we had 5), but we did.

our last half schedule is easier.

many of us thought we could be 0-4. we won't be now. worst 1-3.

of the 5 games we could win: Rutgers / Cincy / USF / Memphis / Temple / Houston / UCF / TCU... if we could grab 5 of these, we make it.

And if we lose more than 6... we get rid of June. which is a win :)

Well, you'll get your win in a way....June will be fired. SMU finishes strong, goes 4-4 in AAC and 5-7 overall.

The key for SMU's season may be TCU. TCU is 4-8 in their last 12. They are ripe.

Since 1989 we are 12-3-1 against the Mustangs. Last years win against us was their first win since 2005. Which also happens to be the last time they won in Houston (2005).

It will be a good game but I would not assume anything when you come down I-45!

You realize that the only person who said that UH was a likely win for SMU on this thread is a UCF fan, correct?

I said that we have a good shot of winning the game, but stopped short of calling it a likely win. Good shot means that we have a good chance of winning, but that it will be a close game and could just as easily go the other way.

However, 72-42.

They are ripe but June needs to fix the red zone offense or we will get destroyed.

Apparently SMU is going to have an '80's throwback game.

Brett McMurphy ‏@McMurphyESPN 2h
SMU will wear 1980s throwback jerseys & honor 1983 team in AAC opener vs. Rutgers on Oct. 5

In response:
Doug Gottlieb ‏@GottliebShow 2h
Will they show up in new cars?

Stan Hardy ‏@JStanHardy 2h
@GottliebShow @McMurphyESPN Will honor 87 team during bye week

1) If true, the school is finally dealing with the 1980's head-on. No more apologizing, hoping for absolution, or begging for forgiveness.

2) The blue jerseys and white pants (with the current helmet) is the best college FB uniform ever. Period. Maybe they'll go to it permanently.

SMU Fans are pretty pumped about the Blue uniforms. Great looking Classic uniform that never should have been messed with-the Pony Express agrees:

Stallion! I didn't know you posted over here...

I'm coming into town for this game specifically to see these jerseys and get my Mustang Mania shirt. That is how much our fans love this concept.

And I agree - deal with DP head on. Schools do much worse nowdays and get away with it - why not embrace who we were, what we did, but also what we accomplished.

I give our AD Rick Hart a lot of credit on this. I've asked repeatedly through email and twitter to bring back the blue jerseys - looks like they've listened to the fans.

RE: SMU football
we should have tearaway shirts and neck rolls - and goggles.

Someone (I'm thinking Sam Rice) should cut their jersey at the 3/4 length as well!

Embrace the 80's!

Ok....... What's more embarrassing than us losing that game is you allowing us to score 42 points on you. Last year we were terrible and on our 3rd QB.

Since 1989 (our wins) (17-10-1 All-Time)

95-21 (89)
44-17 (90)
49-20 (91)
39-33 (94)
38-15 (95)
17-15 (00)
37-27 (06)
38-28 (07)
44-38 (08)
38-15 (09)
45-20 (10)
37-7 (11)

That being said if we have any "rival" in the AAC its you and I love beating SMU on a regular basis!

Just saying... after watching "Hard Knocks"... I freaking love Margus Hunt. What a funny, enormous Estonian. Haha I just remember him blocking so many kicks for SMU.

If you are reffering to me that is far from what I am saying.

I know we won't go undefeated and won't win the conference. I'll take one or both but I am a realist.

PS we won by 7 TD against Southern.....
