Beer at the game Saturday?
I tuned in to the Opening Drive this morning and as I cut it on Tony Kurre was mentioning that there would be beer at the game Saturday and we would be one of so many schools that allow it. Did anyone else hear it? Was it a joke? Has anyone else heard anything of this nature? I know it was tried once and quickly abandoned. Carol Garrison didn't like it but maybe there's been a change of opinion.

Lord knows there's certainly times where Blazer fans would need one.

I normally have a glazed look after most games anyway.

Listen to the Rod Bramblett interview segment. I did hear it correctly.

UAB is now the 23rd team in the nation to serve alcohol at its college football games... will basketball be next?

Would we be allowed to sell it at basketball games? Is the rule you can't sell beer on campus?

There are no NCAA rules regarding alcohol at games, except that you can't serve it at NCAA tournaments or championship games.

You sir are correct. You can sell beer at NCAA sanctioned events, but not at NCAA sponsored events. (Except they now allow it in sky boxes and club areas at NCAA sponsored events.)

It's such a gray area at this point, ie beer sold in club level/suites but not in the stands, that either it needs to be allowed to be sold in all areas of the stadium or not at all. The fact that Budweiser, Coors, etc can sponsor a collegiate athletic program but not sell their product to the general of age public inside the venue makes no sense to me.

That took longer than I thought. This (along with field color "rules") has to be the most believed non-rule in athletics

I remember that the Park Board sold beer at our home opener a couple of years ago, and Garrison issued a statement that it was a mistake by them and wouldn't be happening again.

Why not have a "Thirsty Thursday" game for Rice? Look at what that does for Barons ticket sales!

You do not understand the culture of the religious south. It is not a sin to drink as long as you do not do it in public.03-lmfao

Real question could it be connected to Regions field lease were they already serve Beer?

UAB doesn't get any money from the concessions, correct? I might drop $9 for a beer if was helping to support the athletics department. Otherwise, probably not.

I've brought countless quantities of beer into the games over the years. No reason to actually have to pay for it
