Great read. I love how this guy skewers the usual suspects of the press.

RE: The evolution of faux outrage in the media: 2010-2013
The sad part is college athletics is a good product. Most athletes get a degree without cheating on tests or getting cash under the table.

A small subset of schools make massive money and don't have the first clue of what do with that money (hey look outside the athletic complex, there is a massive institution you exist to promote that is dealing with poor returns on the endowment and government funding cuts). They instead shovel train car loads of money into walnut lockers with iPhone charging stations, wide-screen tv's every place you turn and salaries that are larger than most people hope to win in the lottery in their lifetime.

Meanwhile a group of athletes are on campus to pursue their pro contract dream (too often a pro contract fantasy) and have no business taking classes to remain eligible because they have no concern about the ultimate goal of getting applause with 1,000ish others wearing the same uniform based on middle age clerical garb to be honored with a piece of paper documenting academic achievement.

Some how those small groups have been deemed the rule rather than the exception and it has been declared it is uncontrollable so we must just give up
