After 12 years. I was a Director for a medical company. I was caught up in restructuring, which is not fun.

We certainly don't want to lose such a well trained administrator from this area. What local (metro Jeffco) companies do your skill set match up with or can be adapted to that serve the UAB needs? Have you checked on possible new openings that may be coming at the new Trinity Hospital site on US 280? Are you able to relocate easily?

We all wish the best outcome for you as you face these new challenges that are so common in today's economy. My own son-in-law had to relocate his family from the Indianapolis area to the near Chicago area of Indiana this year when his company was sold. Good Luck!

And I certainly hope you get more than an internship offer!!!

If you arent on the inside with the hr people at UAB you dont even get an interview. I applied for a HR job the other day and they gave it to a secretary from admissions when I have 8 yrs exp. and a PHR cert. Did not interview anyone.

They gave it to her because they could pay her less than what they would have to pay you. UAB is stingy with their money.

Companies are like that. If you join their little club you get more brownie points than even having a masters sometimes.

True that. The legislature got rid of DROP so the senior teachers with the advanced degrees (MA, EDS) would have less reason to stick around and could be replaced in their $50,000 per year academic classroom positions by new untenured $30,000 per year teachers.
