RE: Champlin: Vandy Game - 6:30 PM on Fox Sports Net
Well next week is conference play so now we can get a true measure of how bad we suck...I mean compare to our conferene mates. McGee already said that non-conference games don't count toward the c-usa championship, so even the champ can have 3 losses. We all know our D sucks right now, and persinally I think it has more to do with the coaching then the players.
But this is only McGee's second year. He gets one more to show improvement overall then its time to put some heat to the seat. Just my opinion.

I was there and I agree. That bonehead call set the stage for the rest of the game. Full of strange stuff that almost never went our way. We get down around their 5 yd line and try reaves on a sweep.. Nope,, Next,, run the same play against their SEC speed, Reaves on a sweep,, loose a few yards. What happens next,,, we have to kick a field goal ( a TD would have been BIG at that moment ).

Also, it was the short end of the field.

We will continue to lose until the program hires competent coaches who recruit competent athletes. Right now, we are barely a competitive FCS program. I know for a fact the top teams in Division II could kill us. I have watched them play. And I have watched us play. It's no contest who is better.
It can also be said that UAB will continue to lose regularly until it can offer an infrastructure of conditioning and training facilities that are at least comparable with the teams we must play. I would guess that a large number of your chosen D2 programs are better equipped to compete than is UAB. Facilities dictate quality of recruits which in turn dictate coaching success - better recruits enable better coaching. No coach can get a player to play at a level he can't reach, particularly in one year - and most of our best recruits right now are frosh.

I am channelling the spirit of pass coaches to exercise the demons.
Unfortunately our facilities are lacking for proper exercising.

I think he eluded to this in a fall camp interview that still may be on al.com. Im ready to see Myles Mckee now if he's ready. Its about time we used playmaker (DP) at wideout.

We almost beat Tennessee a couple of times, too.
