RE: Charlotte they think they are
Charlotte fans were talking about bringing 700-1500 fans to this game. What happened??????
I wouldn't be dissing on us not showing up to the game when almost all of your projected fans were no shows.
Goes both ways, fellas.

RE: Charlotte they think they are
We had a pretty good crowd there - we were just spread out all over the stadium. It wasn't 1500 people or anything, but weather, distance and short notice also impacted us. I am also sure that we lost some folks in the traffic accident on 77 that had a bunch of us stuck at a stand still for over 2 hours.

I was just surprised at how small the crowd was for you guys. I totally get everything you listed as the reason for it not to be packed, or even half full. That was way smaller than I would have thought though.

Like I said in the other thread, good luck the rest of the way and we will see you in CLT next year!

JMU draws crowds that you still won't be able to draw AFTER the next expansion of your stadium. Outside of giving you AMAZING field position for your ONLY touchdown, your team barely put up a fight against a JMU team that has a lot of question marks right now. All week your fans were estimating THOUSANDS of fans and they didn't show. 99.9% of the time, JMU has a game day atmosphere that Charlotte will be incredibly lucky to have in the next decade.

Yesterday's game was added last minute, was against a team that no one has heard of (because you're new) and no one cares about (because you're bad). On top of that, its our third home game in four weeks in a rain storm that I havent seen since the last hurricane that came through.

Now, be thankful you were able to play in such an amazing facility like Bridgeforth Stadium against a program with as much history as JMU and go back to gloating over the one thing you actually do have over JMU which is a CUSA invite.

Thank you.

If I had known uncc fans would be such sore losers and be incapable of providing more accurate predictions of attendance, I would've just taken a picture of the 200 uncc fans in attendance. There may have been 20 scattered elsewhere, but a negligible amount.
Only at a youth football game would 200 people be a pretty decent turnout. Go ahead and over estimate your turnout and under estimate ours.
We won. Good luck against the blue hose next week.

You're a shining ray of sunlight there, aren't you?

I don't agree with my fellow Niners that are judging y'all by your attendance last night, and I haven't been shy to call some of them on it. You're right, in that we don't have much to talk... we didn't travel as well as many of us expected, for the same reason y'all didn't have the turnout you normally would.

However, get off your high horse. Your arrogance is incredibly unbecoming, and rather surprising considering the way the rest of your fanbase seems to carry itself. I guess somebody's got to break the mold, but wow... your delusions of grandeur are approaching Appy levels.

Who is being a sore loser? I don't think I have said or done anything over board. Yesterday was a great game for our boys. We played better than last week, but our youth and lack of depth is clear when playing a team the caliber of JMU. It is the exact kind of game we need as we continue to ramp up for CUSA in 2015. I was happy with how it ended and aside from a few drunk students had a great time with everyone I ran into. The wreck on 77 really screwed up our tailgating time and a chance to meet a few more ya.

As far as my picture in this thread - I was just joining in on the fun. Don't dish it if you can't take it.

My arrogance??? I was in full agreement all week with other JMU posters. Charlotte fans were great leading up to the game. I was looking forward to this game, next year, and hopefully a new rivalry in CUSA.

But after the game seeing every UNCC post about our attendance and our game day atmosphere??? You have got to be kidding me.

To earn respect you got to give respect (or at least do better than 34-7).

You should take it as a compliment of sorts. We were all looking forward to getting in our first great away game experience and everything we heard and saw of JMU - that is what we thought we would get. Our game at coastal should be good - but most of our other away games will be at glorified high school stadiums, so we were all just disappointed in what we saw and it sounds like many of you were disappointed in it as well.

The Coastal game should be a great game day experience for the Niners. I've been there twice, and with the exception of a wise-ass frat pledge from Jersey ... things went very smooth!! Glad you folks were able to make it to H'burg.

You seem surprised that a post that basically equated to "you should thank us for the privilege of getting smacked around at our place" would come off as arrogant.

Dolly,

I agree with you on quite a few things but the statement was a bit over the top. Make it a little bit of satire and add 01-ncaabbs as this is what you are expecting from the Charlotte fans. I was definitely hoping for better. The only comment I have is don't chant during the National Anthem and the few fans I got to speak with were just glad to have a football team. Planning on the Charlotte trip next year and forcing a few of my coworkers to come with.

Yeah, that was embarrassing.

In all honesty, we were all still pretty toasty at that point... we were drunk and loud and weren't really paying attention. As soon as we realized that it was the anthem we were chanting through, we tried to shut it up as fast as we could.

Beyond that... I want to apologize for the behavior of some of our fans. There were a few bad apples (and by bad apples, I mean good people with evil drunken twins) that got a bit (way) out of hand.

I blame it on the a-a-a-a-a-alcohol. Something about the mountains makes ya want to drink more. Hell, even I stumbled into the stadium... I generally take it easy on game days.

Haha, Charlotte struck a nerve on the attendance. Just something that bothered us anyway I guess. With a storm like that, though, you're only going to get the hardcore fans out there for any team. We all wish everyone with a ticket was that hardcore, but they're not. For me, it's going to take a loooooot more than that to keep me away from a JMU game.

My sole interaction with Charlotte fans was informing a guy that Harrisonburg doesn't have a Bojangles. I offered Waffle House as late night drunk comfort food, but it just isn't the same.

The lack of Bojangles is one of the many reasons that the part of Virginia above the 460/360 line is really not in the south.
