My apologies to the loyal Panther fans, but Temple and FIU are prime examples of why chasing market size is folly. Without commitment from fans, students, donors, and school administration, neither the size of the city where you are located nor your enrollment size matters.

I wish you all the best going forward, but I do believe C-USA made a mistake in inviting you.

Crostobal must have done something to really piss off the school president or AD. Because you're right - this guy should be on a lot of short-lists. He built FIU up from zilch and beat some good teams while doing it.

OT: Even though fans don't go to the games that much people do watch on TV.

FIU's market share will diminish a bit for the first few years if they keep this up. As much as I dislike FIU with a burning passion it sort of sucks to see them losing like this... Come on, guys, turn it around!

Some of those things can be fixed. There's probably nothing FIU can do about BC having the superior band, though.

Not unless you can hire Dr.Donovan Wells away from BCU.

Alabama wasted no time in getting him on their staff.

Hmmmmm.......

Did a lot of kids transfer out of FIU after Mario left ? They had some beasts on both sides of the ball. Lots of young talent.

Read the Miami Herald - pretty much every so called stud Cristobal recruited now that he is gone they are either academically ineligible or two of them stud rb were kicked off for being arrested.

Turner had his work cut out and probably is thinking WTF did i get myself into. The off field shannanigans have devastated this team as we already lost 30 seniors last season.

I hate to say but i got to watch with Pepto or some other stomach settling concoction.

Boy this is ugly!!!

You can throw Tulane in there too. What do they bring to the AAC? No one goes to games and they definitely do not bring that market. They haven't posted a winning season since 2002.

Everybody is entitled to their opinions. Thankfully, that opinion wasn't shared by C-USA Presidents and commissioner. Good luck in the AAC in the future.

I know some administrators are having buyers remorse right now. If your on the academic situation doen't get sorted out in a hurry there is not telling what the future of FIU will be. Especially with your ineptness on the field.

I believe that is nonsense. What "academic" situation from FIU are you talking about? Ineptness of the field comes and goes, so in Football we will be "inept" in the near future, it does seem. However, the fact is that FIU is a strong Research School with pretty solid academic footing, especially since it opened to class just 41 years ago. There are a lot of great things happening at FIU, just that they are not in football.

Again, opinions, with or without facts, are just that. The opinions that mattered 2 years ago made the decision.

Please kindly name the "administrators." And please explain why they would have buyer's remorse after one, two, or even three bad seasons. And when you are done with these explanations, please set forth what makes your university so much more special than any other in say the SBC.

The fact is that we are by far the worst football team in the land. We know it. Some of us knew this would be the case early this summer. But in case you don't know, there are only two sports that truly matter. Football and BBall and we will be respectable in BBall this year. And next year the so-called "academic situation" will be sorted out. You may not like FIU, and I am ok with that, but please don't invent situations or problems that don't exist. Thanks for playing.

Well said. Amazing how people can make things up out of thin air to justify their views or positions. I guess by his reasoning, any school having a bad year is on the verge of getting kicked out of this conference.
