RE: in 2014, Rice is your best program
Rice is in a good spot. CUSA West has regional appeal. The new schools that were added have fan bases that travel better than the fans of the private schools that departed to the AAC. The bowl tie-ins also appear to be a little better right now. If being aligned with academic peers is more important to them, they can always earn their way into the AAC, if they wanted. I don't see the AAC or MWC as being something that's much more desirable than CUSA.

I can't see enough up side to Rice moving to the AAC. They will have better regional rivals with the Texas teams in C-USA. Houston is their cross town rival, but SMU can't draw flies (15 large at their last home game, no way they travel well to Rice), and I think C-USA has a better line-up of regional bowl games for Texas teams right now. AAC makes more money, but Rice has all the money they need. Also, the AAC offers no greater access to the playoff either.
I truly hope all four of the C-USA Texas teams develop strong programs that create legendary games for this conference. If we can do that, no one will want to leave.

I will. Enjoy your father's money and loafers.
Weak, Plumm always has a good retort.
Not trying to join your argument, but didn't a couple of SMU players get robbed by a hooker last season, and then call the cops?
They skipped out on $50, Don't want to know what she looked like.
You never see Plumm and ToddRodge post at the same time - coincidence?

LOL! That's just nasty. It's even worse when you think they couldn't scrape together 50 bucks between the 2 of them. I guess they shared her, so she probably charged extra. She was really like a $15 or $20 hoe. It was a "she" right?

SMU is working on a NC for Bball, working on taking a bowl record and making it worth more then just mediocre seasons, and developing our national audience. SMU is in a good place right now. Eventually, SMU will move again when realignement hits...
But back to my point: This is how I see it.
Rice has a lot of potential. Houston is a step ahead of them, although academically, they can't fix that as quickly. Houston may go to a P-5 someday. The AAC would take an improved Rice easily.
I think the schools with the most potential for upward movement are, in order:
1. Rice - (Stanford-esque)
2. Southern Miss - get it together guys... You could of easily been in the AAC right now.
3. Old Dominion - We can handle another Virginia team.
4. Texas State - Honestly, just the name and school size alone does wonders.
CUSA should look into Arkansas State and Georgia St. in the future. I think y'alls goal should be to keep up with the MWC
Why is anyone paying this dude any mind. SMU sucks at everything and no one care about them. Just look how many people go to their games. One of their players came out and said what a their attendance is. You're building a national audience? Really in what country? Definitely not this one. SMU is building for absolutely nothing.
And the AAC teams need to open their eyes and realize no one care about that conference and they aren't no better than any of the other G5 conferences.
Aresco sold everyone a bill of goods with the AAC and now your fools are too stubborn to admit it was all for not. You ran for money and got barely anything. You thought you were getting an AQ bid and that is gone after 2014. AAC is a joke. Let's see UCONN gets pounded by Towson 33-18, USF gets pounded by McNeese State 53-21, and your sorry team beat Montana State 31-30. I mean seriously what are you thinking coming here and talking smack.
The AAC does not belong in the same conversation as the P5 and never will. Once Louisville leaves there will be nothing left in that conference that anyone will care about.
