He just had a story and interview on good morning America! Wow.. But apparently he's chosen to walk on with "preferred walk on status" at Florida? Didn't UAB and some other schools offer him a full scholly?

We were looking at him, not sure if a scholarship was ever offered though.

A pretty dumb decision to take a walk on offer vs a full scholarship (if it was indeed offered)..

Depends on the situation.
If money isn't an issue & that is where he wants to go, fine.
In my household, no one would be a walk-on when a scholarship is there (talking about athletics or academics)

I'm actually glad he didn't come here. I wish him the best of luck at Florida, and hopefully he's good enough to make their team.

Yeah, but let's be honest. To a young kid, physically challenged or not, the allure of a walk on at the Floridas, USCs, and the Ohio States over rules a logical full paid schalorship to the UABs, Miami (Ohios), or San Diego states of the world.
Unfortunate and I'm sure the parent would prefer the full schalorship over the walk on, but ultimately its the kids choice.

How many such cases that meet the above criteria do you know of? I am willing to bet not many. A few may turn down a scholarship to walk on somewhere but rich kids accept scholarship offers too, see Johnny Manziel. Ultimately if it's a case of scholarship or walk-on, it's the parents choice if they are the ones who have to pay.
