Just saw this... Does this signal the dominoes starting to fall?

FootballScoop Staff ‏@footballscoop 7m
Oh my> RT @gkketch: (@ChipBrownOB) is reporting that Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds will step down at the end of year. #Longhorns

Doubt it matters too much, but one thing that might have made us more attractive to the Big 12 than UH is that DeLoss Dodds hated UH. With him leaving (if true), Rice may have lost that potential advantage.

Let's hope that Karlgaard's relationship with Bowlsby is stronger than Dodds hate for UH. Dodds was also the driver behind the Big 12 staying at 10. If he moves on, no telling what Texas position will be with new leadership in place.

And, the university's response:

kbohls ‏@kbohls 31m
Should have said Texas denies report that DeLoss Dodds is stepping down as "absolutely not true. Period."

Sports Illustrated is reporting that DeLoss Dodds will "step down" at the end of the year. That might change the dynamics a great deal.

I tried looking for the 2008 Longhorn Football Media Guide to see if there were photos of the Trainers.

I offered my horn fans an oldie from the last days of Charlie McClendon at LSU. Bumper sticker that said Help Mac Pack. Enterprising Owls?

Denials mean nothing at UT. OB has the best sources so they are likely on target or at least very close.

Every ten years or so where I work there is a lot of speculation and rumor that the company may offer a buyout of older higher paid employees to get them to retire. And the company ALWAYS denies it, just before they offer the buyout.

Is it too late to get Texas on the schedule for this year? Would love to see Rice get a piece of this meltdown action.

Ole Miss cleaned the Horns' clock in Austin tonight. A wipeout by OU and they will be begging for Muschamp to come back from Florida.

If a tree feel in a forest and there was no one there to hear it, did it really fall?

If the Lognhorns lose on the Longhorn Network, did they really lose?

The press conference was like something from the Iraqi Defense Minister, just an unbelievable level of denial of the state of things. Mack's quote was something like "this can all be righted by winning the Big 12 championship"

Mack didn't sound like he believed what he was saying either. His call to action for fans was tough to hear. "Forget the coaches. Come for the kids." He sounds like a broken man. Worn beyond belief.

Yes, I felt almost sorry for Mack. His face was so worn and weary that I almost thought he had been crying.

Now that they're available on every terrestrial cable system in Austin, yes.

Without seeing the full quote from the spokesmouth, including the only quoted part as being "absolutely not true" leaves a huge gap in what was being denied. Plus, looking at the tweet, you can say it's not true if Dodds doesn't leave for the consulting gig, or doesn't leave at the end of the calendar year and instead leaves at the end of the school year. Lots of wiggle room in there. Hardly a strong denial without going through each point and denying it. That lack of specificity is exactly what they depend on.

With another blowout loss, as well as the leaking of 2011 comments critical of Nebraska fans, I'm wondering if Bo Pelini is on his way out ...
