P5 cream rising to top
After 2 weeks the P5 (incl. ND) is 42-5 (89%) vs the GOF (incl. Navy & BYU as well as Lou & Rut).

P5 is 29 -3 (90%) vs. the "Baby Seals" (FCS).

how can you count Navy as a P5 team? They are joining a G5 conference.

It's silly to suggest that would change much. Even you can't seriously argue that (for example) the outcome of Ohio-Louisville would have been different if the game were played at Ohio.

The P5 teams get those home games for a reason: They sell tickets, therefore both the P5 team and the G5 team benefit.

You say you want your team to host big-time opponents like Louisville, instead of playing them on the road all the time and only occasionally getting struggling P5 teams like Kansas to visit you? There is a solution. Texas played on the road at BYU last week. Why did Texas agree to play any games at all at BYU? Here's your answer, from the Texas-BYU box score:

I'm seeing 41-6 overall. But here's the home/away splits:

P5 at home 34-2

P5 on the road 7-4

And that includes UL and Rutgers in the P5. Maybe that's the difference.

It is the difference, because when you include Rutgers as a P5 team then you get the "sixth" G5 over P5 win (Fresno State over Rutgers).

P5 = Power 5 = ACC, Pac12, SEC, Big10 & Big12 + Notre Dame of course (P5 = The Chosen One's)
G5 = Group of 5 = MAC, Sunbelt, CUSA, MWC, American + Army & BYU (G5 = The Unclean)

Just be glad you're on the right side of the cut. **** pissees me off.

thanks.

47 games, P5 plays 36 home games, G5 plays 11. If you reverse that, based on their home winning % the P5 goes 10-1 at home, 23-13 on the road, 33-14 overall.

The disproportionate number of home to away games vs the G5 is giving the P5 an additional 8 wins.

Cream rising to the top.... with every benefit it can get.

Someone seems to think Louisville held a gun to their AD's head and said "sign the contract for the away game with no home return! SIGN IT!!"

Your AD, like all the other G5 ADs agreed to it to get the money and exposure Ohio cant generate for itself.

No.

The matchups that are most winnable, or most within reach, for the G5 teams are the ones where they already are getting home games in the series. It's not exactly front-page news that a strong G5 team wins a game against a weak P5 team, like Cincinnati over Purdue, regardless of where the game is played. But that's approximately the 6th best G5 team beating the 60th best P5 team.

The matchups played exclusively at P5 stadiums are usually the ones hosted by a P5 power where the outcome would be the same no matter where the game was played. You may think the outcome of next week's Colorado State-Alabama or this week's Akron-Michigan would be different if the G5 team hosted the game, and you are welcome to your opinion, but your opinion will be part of a small minority.

ECU and BYU put an impressive number of butts in their seats. They can look at P5 teams with similar attendance numbers and say, "Hey, come play a game or two at our place." And, in fact, P5 teams do play at ECU and at BYU.

BYU is really a tweener team. Not really G5 but not P5 either. I just wonder how long they can survive with little/no chance to make an access bowl. Even if they are #8 they probably don't make the access bowl. #10 and they almost for sure don't make it.
