BOT Meeting agenda
http://uasystem.ua.edu/wp-content/upload...091213.pdf

Here's the agenda for the trustee meeting this week. I'd take note that trustee McMahon, who has been one of our biggest supporters, is retiring from the board. This will give them another chance to appoint a UAB grad, but I won't hold my breath.

RE: BOT Meeting agenda
No shame.

8)
Consideration of Resolution authorizing execution
of an Architectural Service Agreement and
approving preliminary Budget for renovation and
expansion of Sewell
-
Thomas Stadium at UA
(St
ages I and II)

They sure are spending a ton of money on Frat houses the last couple years. It's good that they can so easily pay for themselves.

I like this one

2. Consideration of Resolution granting initial Approval of and Submission to the Alabama Commission on Higher Education (ACHE) the proposed Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Environmental Engineering (C.I.P. Code 14.1401) at UA

IE BS degree in 01-scout shoveling at UA, lord knows there's enough of it so they might as well give a degree for it 03-lmfao

I disagree with your assessment. I also question whether they would allow UAB, which also has a "Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering" department to pursue an Environmental Engineering degree separate from what both universities currently offer, which is a Environmental concentration in Civil Engineering.

A friend's wife, Faye Helms Jones, received a PhD in Environmental Engineering from UA over a decade ago. I have never before heard of having a PhD program before having a BS program in the field. Am I just out of the loop here, or is that now common practice?

RE: BOT Meeting agenda
I'm totally game for crashing the meeting with signs again, especially during that $30 million baseball stadium proposal. I'm just not sure there's enough fan support for such an investment.

UAH offers M.S. and Ph.D. Degrees in atmospheric science, but they don't offer a B.S. in atmospheric science. They offer a B.S. in earth science with a focus in atmospheric science and other things. It's my understanding they can't offer a B.S. because South Alabama offers one.

RE: BOT Meeting agenda
I think we would look bad protesting their renovation at the BOT meeting IMHO. The fan base is not fired up right now. I think we need to win some games and wait until we put fannies in the seats and have something on the agenda that is our issue.

let's let the media (If they will) ask the questions right now.

Just my opinion, if you disagree that's cool.

We need to flood Scarbinski's in box and see if he will ask them some hard questions. May not work but I sent him something.

Actually, UAB had a graduate program in Biomedical Engineering for 20 years before they started the undergraduate program. You only needed an undergraduate degree in one of the other Engineering disciplines to apply. There are a number of engineering programs that offer environmental in a graduate only program. The Civil's usually submit the majority of applications.

From what I have read I suspect there will be talk of having a large percentage of the cost paid by donors. Now, whether the donors really exist and at the level of funding they specify is a different matter...
