Just in case we go into bartering, I'm hedging on vices. Cigarettes, alcohol, and porn are going to be worth a LOT. Be sure to keep some of that exotic stuff after people get bored of the usual.

Definitely bartering, maybe both, but if there was no electricity then porn would be no good unless it was mags...

I could never go back to mags.

Whaaaaat? With mags you create your own scenes, you just need a little bit of perverted imagination. Hell I can make my own porn scene with no mag, no movie, no nothing... Well, used to. Now I have a 21 y/o (just turned 21 on the 3rd) that takes care of all that now.

Nope. I lost my imagination after Internet porn. 03-pissed

So you're telling me, that with the fake boobs that are (in my opinion are waaaaay too big) in your sig, you couldn't imagine a good sex scene to blow pudding on?

If he's in the oilfield he can't have one because if there is an H2S leak then facial hair won't let an oxygen mask seal onto his face. There may be others that won't allow facial hair either.

I doubt that's the reason.. I figure Lord Stanely is like some of us and just a plan ol paper pusher.

My plans for if we go down "Revolution" style.

I'm just packing up and heading to the woods. I grew up with the lifestyle and I've read/own most of the Foxfire books. I'll figure it out.

Yeah, I have a few acres, 3 ponds, woods for hunting, and my parents are 5 houses down on the other side of the street so I can use their land for gardening. For some odd reason, my yard is ALL red clay, while my parent's yard is perfect for gardens.

Hey, I'm much more than a paper pusher. Sometimes I get to write on them also.

I spend too much time researching, writing contracts, and looking at a computer screen and my vision WAS 20/20. I've noticed over the past year that it was harder and harder to see the scores during football games or reading what movies are on the satellite guide. My 2 nephews came over to watch the LSU game last weekend and I put my youngest nephew's glasses on just for the hell of it. I almost fell backwards when I realized how crisp the HD was on my TV, and how well I could actually see the difference, and how little things, like the lights on my receiver, weren't star shaped. It was CRAZY.

To answer the Q. posed in the OP, I'd find a more plausible doomsday scenario show.

An EMP is very plausible and can be either natural due to the sun or manmade. Imagine life with no electricity. All the transformers are shot and it will take years to replace them. That is not fiction. It could happen and mankind is not prepared for it - anywhere. Well, maybe the 7th century like tribes in the ME wouldn't notice much difference. The rest of us would instantly be transported back to the 19th century.

Really thought the thread was about a coming revolution in this country.

No that's just the name of the show, and I think it's basically saying that we'd be back in those times with lanterns for light and fireplaces for heat. Imagine how hot the summers would be now...

Is. It is going to have a second season. I think it is ok but not great. It seems to me they have been going too far too fast because they have to end the show after the second year.

Seeds, ammunition, gasoline (until it goes bad, unless you've corned the market on Staybil.) then bicycles. Simple Medicines (aspirin, ibuprofen, neosporin) and more complex Medicines (amoxicillin etc)

Certain Skills like structural engineering (for new structures, or inspecting current buildings and whatever the technical name is for the skills and trades surrounding hydro-construction and maintenance.

I've always believed windmills and watermills would make a quick comeback. I'd find the first big water race and make that my new homestead. You can do a lot with running water.

I don't running streams, but I have 3 ponds. I would find a way to make a watermill work.
And you can rustle them gators like you do in that swamp people show.

This is why we need to keep having newspapers and books. Most, if not all digital data would be wiped out. Our shortsightedness to this could be a problem down the line.

In the end it's all the same. Same journalism in newspapers and books, though I prefer them over any ol story on the internet. As technology becomes more and more convenient, we become more and more divided.
