1. Thus, Houston was just invited to a league that has a deal with the ABC/ESPN family of stations.

2. Nobody does well in these crap regional stations. The Big 12 had 9 conference games in Houston on these crap channels last year. 8 of them drew 0.6 or less. The Longhorns had one conference game on Fox Sports Southwest in 2012. It was outdrawn on the same channel by Houston-Tulane.

Barron did a poor job of providing local ratings in 2011. It was very incomplete. Several weeks, he only provided national ratings. On the other hand, he did a much more complete job of reporting the local ratings in 2012. Thus, comparing 2011 and 2012 Houston ratings is a fruitless exercise.

There was one November 2011 report from Barron that was very interesting. Locally, this triple header on the regional FSN channel drew the following ratings:

Houston-Tulsa 3.2
Tech-Baylor 1.4
Rice-SMU 0.2

RG3 was in Heisman overdrive at the time.

I agree about the Baron's 2011 ratings but lets be honest, UH was having their best season in years with an undefeated season and possible chance at a BCS bowl. Tech was getting ready to have its fist losing season in over 20 years. More often than not, Texas, Texas Tech and A&M will always have better TV ratings because we have loyal, passionate fans who care about their respective teams. That shows up in TV ratings and in the stands.

Honestly, the Big 12 needs Texas and Texas Tech to get back on track and end all of this nonsense. The Houston TV market is fine without a&m or uh. No amount of BS will change that.

Just stop. Texas Tech logged a .5 rating against Kansas when it played on the same crappy regional network the CUSA teams were stuck on. So for some strange reason your fan base was neither loyal of passionate on that fine Saturday? The network matters. The fact that Tech, which has a decent fans base only gets a .5 on FSN proves that. Comparing ESPN ratings with CSS and FSN ratings doesn't really tell us anything. In fact, any team that can manage to generate some ratings life on that network might have real potential. .

As Brett McMurphy said on the Tim Brando show, "none of the Power 5 conferences are interested in ANY of the schools in the GO5 conferences". Houston has nowhere to go.

I believe that I said I thought we could easily be in the AAC for longer than many Coog fans think. The wild cards out there for expansion are the Big-10 and D-4. If the Big-10 starts taking teams from P-5 conferences---some slots could open up. The other wild card is D-4. It could be that expansion is part of the creation of a D-4 that has 80-90 teams rather than just 64. Those are the only two catalysts I see for expansion in the short term. Otherwise, Houston may as well get comfortable in the AAC and use the time to build their program into a more attractive target. If we can succeed on the field, continue to improve academics, and build to 40K+ average attendance---we become a pretty viable target for a P-5 conference with no Texas ties.

If you're on ESPN, ABC, CBS and maybe Fox proper you get ratings. If you're on crappy regional networks, you get crappy regional ratings. Big surprise, not.

There is no other way to read the data above. To read anything other than that is idiotic.

You're right. Local ABC, CBS TV stations want teams who appeal to their respective audiences.

I know.

Thank you for confirming that your post was garbage.

That could be bad news for Cincy.

I still think the Texas12 gets to 12 members, McMurphy will report it when it's already done.

Hey coog and bearcat fans, did you see that 58K cheering on the Red Raiders tonight? 58K on a Thursday night when a good portion of our fan base live over 100+ miles from Lubbock.

By the way, TCU returned 3K tickets. I guess their fans aren't as hyped as they make them out to be.

I can't wait until this joke conference ends. The Texoma 4 belong in the PAC 12 and you guys can join our leftovers.

So what was the final tally for the Montana game? 10K? 15K

I enjoyed the SMU campus and enjoyed watching the 25K or so Tech fans cheer the Red Raiders to victory in Dallas.

You realize that Texas Tech is the reason it didn't happen? The Pac 12 would have LOVED Oklahoma or Texas, but the benefits of those two programs isn't worth the drawbacks of Texas Tech and Okie State.

You cling to Texas because you have never done anything of merit on your own. Tech is really not much different from the Vanderbilts, Baylors, and Dukes of the world in terms of 'deserving' to be in the BCS.

I guess Larry Scott was thinking somewhat differently from that when he flew into Lubbock. The PAC didn't happen because Texas wouldn't give up the whorn network.

We don't cling to Texas. We see the benefit of associating with them but we don't bow down to them. IIRC, I think we told them to take a hike both times they tried to put one of our games on their network. The PAC will expand in the future and who will they take??? A school already in a power conference that has loyal fans, good attendance, good following across the state of Texas and great facilities or a school with a small fan base? I don't think the PAC needs anymore Washington St's.

As I have told numerous other coogs, I hope you enjoy the aac.

The only reason Texas Tech is a candidate AT ALL for the Pac 12 is because they are in some sense paired to Texas. The Pac 12 would never in a million years look at Texas Tech without Texas being a part of the deal. Ask yourself would the Pac 12 take Texas without Tech? Hell yes. Would the Pac 12 take Tech without Texas? Hell no.

And I hope Texas Tech enjoys the Big 12 because you sure as heck don't deserve the Pac 12.

I have a feeling the PAC will expand in the future and Tech will definitely get an invite. Larry wants exposure in Texas. Besides Texas, who else in this state can deliver TV sets across the state of Texas for the PAC? Houston? SMU? Rice? Nope. nada. never

Texas Tech has good TV ratings in this state and Larry Scott knows it. The question remains if superconferences happen, will UH once again be on the outside looking in? I think we all know that answer, so I sincerely hope the coogs enjoy the aac. 04-cheers

Isnt your logic that if a P-5 conference wanted the Coogs they would be in a P-5 conference? Well, if the Pac-12 really wanted Tech, they would be in the Pac-12.

I'm tired of these threads always descending into a Texas Tech vs. Houston argument... 03-banghead

So I'm ending it, and the next person to start one, or extend it, gets a forum ban for a week... 05-mafia
