UTSA is one year removed from being a pretend team. I'm sure we can handle them.

I am not taking anything for granted at this point. I made that mistake in the Troy game and won't do that again. Hopefully the team learned that as well.

If you took Troy for granted, then that's on you. You realize we were underdogs, right?

Before the game, no. When we were up by 14 and were playing well and Troy wasn't doing well, yes.

The reality is that we will likely be 1-3 or 0-4, but those games can't help us win the division or the conference, except to better prepare us. We haven't looked as good as we did in some of the OOC games last year, but I am hoping for a better conference result.

Just to address your last part, I don't think it's a fair statement. I believe you're basing that on the Ohio State game. It's true that we looked good against OSU last year...however
2012 first game, lost to Troy at home by 10
2013 first game, lost @ Troy in OT
Advantage 2013
2012 2nd game, lost @ #8 USC by 43
2013 2nd game, lost @ #9LSU by 39
Advantage 2013 (arguable)

I don't think there is, as of now, any reason to say our 2012 OOC performance was better than 2013. That may be true when it's all said and done, but not yet.

You are correct on both accounts. We played Troy A LOT tougher this year....and on the road to boot. LSU is a better program than usc-e.....a lot more physical, more 4 and 5 star talent. Even Blakeney was kind complimentary of how good of a team he thinks UAB has this year.

The point is instead of going 2-6 in conference as we did last year, what do you think is our likely conference record based on what you have seen to date. We will continue to revisit this week to week throughout the season. We should get at least 2 more conference wins than we did last year.

Better, but the big question is marginally better or somewhat better or astonishingly better? And what will that translate to on the field and on the scoreboard.

I'm guessing somewhat better, and hopefully no worse than 4-4 in CUSA. You are right though......we'll be revisting this a lot over the next few months.

my preseason prediction was 0-2 at this point, 2-6 in conference. i'll stick with that until im wrong about a game. i hope we start 2-0 and im forced to recalculate

So, you originally figured 3-9 again?.........nothing wrong with it. You could have the same record, and yet be improved. I'm hoping for 5-6 wins though.
