its not like im rooting for michigan, notre dame, ohio state, usc, & alabama........
I highly doubt you have 5 degrees from 5 different institutions , therefore you are a t-shirt fan, most of them aren't really taken that seriously.
Rooting for a school because of family reasons doesn't make you a T-shirt fan.
Its idiotic having 5 teams, even two teams is reasonable, three is the limit after that is T shirt fan territory. At the end of the day, the family members' team will never be your team if you didn't go there, all said and done, you are only a t-shirt fan.
you dont know me or have a clue about me or why im a fan of those teams or how passionate I am for them. so you really dont have the right to call me out.
and there is no cap limit on how many teams you can root for. if you have a special attachment to a said team for whatever reason, you are not less of a fan for that team just because you have another team as well.
Dude, feel free to root for your five teams, hell root for ten teams, jut don't expect anyone to take you seriously.

Don't worry too much about the idiotic peanuts gallery around here. People on the internet "judging" others only upon the fact that they have decided to list five schools that they follow just shows THEIR tendency to act while in a state of complete ignorance.
For me I am obviously an Iowa guy but I also find myself pulling for Rutgers simply due to all the hate they have been getting over this move of theirs and the fact that I think they will prove folks wrong. I have not bought a single "t shirt" or anything else related to Rutgers and yet I list them as a team I am following because I AM following them and nothing more.
I also see myself becoming a future follower of Arizona State because they are the major local program in the area where I now reside and I do love watching college football in person. In fact, Wisconsin is coming to town soon....
None of that is wrong or horrible and is all perfectly fine just like the reasons that you have for simply following five programs. Do not pay attention to the tribalistic idiots that make up these "rules" in their head about what is proper "fandom". They are idiots.

I'm not taking you seriously at all if that is a requisite for you taking someone seriously. That doesn't really speak well for your ability for rational thinking. Feel free to continue though.
