The lack of a pass rush is killing the defense.

Penn State shooting themselves in the foot. Whatever, I'll take it.

It's good to see English call the blitz so much..

We will be lucky to go into the half losing 14-7

Lock down defense

PSU left at least 3 with the INT by Hackenberg. Mistakes aplenty by both schools.

Down 10 at half. If you would've told me that before the game, I'd be happy. I'm not mad now, but we've definitely left some points on the field.

The offense has to finish off some of these drives. The defense has done respectable enough to keep this game close...now Benz and co have to capitalize. Easier said than done, obviously. Penn State's d-line is big and fast.

The defense is not playing bad, I must say. The offense must do a better job on 1st and 2nd down...

I would like to see some draw calls and some screen plays in the 2nd half..

The game is about the get real now because they have more bodies to make the bigger play against us..

Forcing mistakes with good coverage isn't the same as bobbling the snap on a field goal attempt. You have to give our D some credit on the pick, although I don't think you'd do that.

They deserve credit, but the fact is that PSU did lead potential points on the field. Why you refuse to accept this most basic fact I do not know.

It was a bad read by Hackenberg. EMU deserves credit for taking advantage of that, but it Hackenberg’s decision making was part of the reason. This is true for 95% of interceptions in football.

Overthrowing that WR on the last drive is more of a mistake than the INT. We were fortunate there. What the hell is Spearman doing on a WR?

Creer is having an All-MAC game. He is in a lot of single coverage vs. Robinsom, etc.

Best EMU game vs a BCS power since... ??

Ok? You leave potential points on the field every time you don't score, if you want to get into simplicity like that. We forced a turnover. That's more "taking points away from them" than "leaving points on the field", but whatever. Not gonna argue semantics with you.

He whiffed bad on one of the big runs PSU had on their second TD drive, but he has been very good in coverage. Kevin Johnson has also made some nice tackles, that have gone unnoticed by the commentators. Haven't really seen Cotton at all...

The MSU performance was much better than this one. EMU lead going into the fourth quarter.

Yeah, as an MSU supporter on the side, I'd kill to have Hackenberg on the Spartans. These QBs are dreadful.

RE: EMU VS Penn State Game Day Comments
I think the adjustments English makes at halftime will say a lot about his ability to coach. If EMU comes out flat and gives up a lot more points, I would say that's unacceptable. Benz looks pretty good but doesn't have a lot of time in the pocket. Might be hard to throw deep without time. I'd like to see EMU eat up more clock and try to stretch drives. This will help them get into a groove.
