We beat UCLA and SMU when they were ranked #1 but both of those were on the road. I think tonight may be the biggest win at home.

Probably the biggest win because 1) Indiana is the defending national champion and they were pre-season #1, and 2) it was at home in front of a West Campus Field record crowd of over 3,000 folks.

Whenever you can witness the atmosphere and experience that kind of a win, it can really help build loyalty in a fan base. Since soccer isn't often televised, being there in person to witness it is critical. Much like I think folks that saw the UAB win over LSU in 2000- that win alone probably helped solidify loyalty among many UAB football fans. Same with UAB's win over Kentucky in 2004 for basketball. And I realize there were big wins before those, especially in basketball. The point is, you need big games like that periodically to help feed the passion for the programs you support.

I think this is the problem with UAB football right now. As fans, folks are starving for a big win. Today's game against LSU looks tough, but a win over LSU today would be another one of those galvanizing type of wins that we need to help grow our fanbase in UAB athletics overall.
