Hump Day - On To Illinois
Today is hump day. I am tired of rehashing the Purdue game and looking forward to the Illinois game.

From what I have heard, Illinois should have a better offense than Purdue but perhaps not as good of a defense.

While we ended up pounding Purdue by 35, it was only a 7 point game at the half. Can the boys get out to a better start on the road, and if not, can they have as good of a second half as last week?

I also hear Illinois may have a better run defense and a worse pass defense. Might we see Kay early in the game to build up a lead through the air, then bring in Munchie to grind out the second half on the ground?

You're reading my mind! I fully expect a role reversal behind center, and hope to see Moore & McKay stretch the field.

Yes, seems like good strategy. If UC can build a big lead early they'll force IL outside their offensive comfort zone. I see UC shuting down an anemic running game; pressuring their QB early and often and our defensive backs feasting on interceptions. Let's hope this one is over early...

I think this will be a good test for our secondary. Illinois put up some good numbers throwing the ball but struggled to run. They had 2 WRs with over 100 yards in that first game. We definitely need to get pressure on the QB. Offensively, we have to be able to throw the ball effectively. There's a clear weakness with UI's secondary so we must be able to exploit it.

RE: Hump Day - On To Illinois
We should be able to put a lot of pressure on their QB. Southern Illinois recorded 5 sacks last week. I expect a big game from Silverberry Mahoun and company. I too want to see the secondary get tested. After this game there won't be opportunity for them to be tested for several weeks (stop me when a good passing team shows up: NW State, Miami, USF, Temple, UConn, Memphis...)

Tuberville said in press conference that we only implemented about 60% of the offense against the Boilermakers. If the Illini are able to make this a shootout we might be able to see how much more this team can do.

I'll take a shootout victory but prefer a methodical blowout by UC for my viewing pleasure...and cardio health.

They definitely look vulnerable to the pass rush- have Silverberry and the whole crew pin their ears back and go for sacks. We have the LB's and DB's to cover.

I hope the Purdue game has these guys pumped and ready to kick some more b1g as$.

I remember hearing that too and thought it was really interesting. I felt like in Jones' first year he basically dumped 100% of the offense on Collaros and the rest of the players. They struggled mightily trying to absorb everything in only a few months under the new system. It sounds like Eddie Gran is rolling it out slowly to the team and they're responding well.

Maybe it is the portion that Kay will do when he starts and is "100%." 03-idea
