Our Gainesville Experience
UTCharger73, Mrs UTCharger 73, and I had a great experience in Gainesville. It all started with being allowed to check in at our hotel after driving through the night, at 9am on Friday morning, a whole 6 hours before normal check in time. We had opportunities to check out local establishments like the Copper Monkey (Great Burger), The Swamp (neat setting), and the Swamp Head Brewery. Swamp Head might have been the best part as they have a little bar set up in the warehouse where they brew the beer. They were having something like a tailgate party late friday afternoon, early Friday evening, simply awesome.
Everyone we ran into in Gainesville was extremely friendly and accommodating, especially Rusty and the guys & girls from GatorTailgating.com. They allowed us to set up our tailgate right next to theirs. We were able to have a location where Rocket fans could congregate before and after the game.
This may have been the first time that I have travelled to an away Rocket game and have not heard a "Toledo $uck$" or any other negative of derogatory comments. I have a new found respect for the University of Florida and their fanbase!!!
Other than the result of the football game, it was a great trip!!!

Echo those sentiments towards Gator nation. Had no negative comments or run ins with any of their fans. Probably would've been different had we somehow won...

Same here, and I wasn't bashful about cheering. Everyone around me was complimentary towards the Rockets

RE: Our Gainesville Experience
Agree across the board - the fans outside and inside the stadium were first rate. Wonder if any of their southern hospitality will ever rub off on the 1,000s of buckeyes who live in FLA in the fall/winter?
The one area that surprised me was listening to local sports talk radio after the game and the bum wrap Jeff Diskel was getting from callers and host alike. Guess if you have three statues out front of the stadium of Heisman Trophy winners and they are all QBs then maybe the bar is set pretty high.
