It always irked me how the helmet and jersey were two different shades of purple.

I guess that's fixed now.

Going the way of UNC with their black and powder blue uniforms certainly wouldn't be a bad thing. (obviously, you'd be black and purple). Differentiating yourself from TCU would be your only issue (as ours is akin to Mizzou and Vanderbilt)

In the release it says that pieces of the black uni will be used in conjunction with the other unis to give the team a wider choice of possibilities for each game this season.

In person, the purples were pretty close. TV really does change the purple to either a grape or even bluish color. I didn't like that at all.

Not too worried about distinguishing ourselves. They don't look any more like UNC's than they do any other team that has dawned black unis IMO. People will be forced to look and see who has the black unis on. That is actually good for ECU. It is hard to get the average fan to notice you. This is one good way to do it.

My favorite ecu helmets were the purple ones that said ECU on the side and had a yellow facemask

Thanks for picture........goods great! Note: I will so glad when we are out of Cusa and full members of AAC. Truly it will be a long year of attacks for Tulsa, Tuane, and ECU in Cusa.

They look freaking awesome...The only thing I would change would have been to make the helmet flat black but not a biggie...I think they will look very sharp at night. I also like the potential for mixing and matching the different uniforms.

Your not the only one...The ones like we wore up until the late 90’s were the greatest in my mind. I am not a huge fan of the skull and crossbones we are using on the helmets right now, wish we would just go back to ECU on the helmets but apparently the players love what we have now.

Look exactly like Washington's vlacks. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I love the look for sure.

I wouldn't say 'exactly'... they don't have purple collars and the shoulder lines one ours are new. Also, our gold is more yellow... all that said, both are Nike so there will be some similarities.
