The Good
Obviously a win would have been great, but there were quite a few good things today.
1. The team did not quit/fold late in a game that was decided. Guys were still flying around and making plays. That type of mentality will be needed for the duration of the season. There are only 2 gimmies on on the schedule. Missouri, Ball State, Bowling Green, Navy, Eastern Washington, Buffalo, and Northern Illinois will all be tough games.
2. The defense showed it can play tough. Florida did have some big plays, but it was Florida.
3. Fluellen looks primed to have a great season. When he was able to get a little breathing room; he looked, quick, strong, and decisive.
4. Detmer looked good kicking field goals and making a tackle, and the coverage team did a good job.
Things that need to improve:
1. The passing game. Guys were dropping passes early and Owens was missing guys late. There were moments when they got into a rhythm, but you have make catches in big games and you have to be able to relax and hit your mark.
Things we will have to wait and see about as the season goes along.
1. Limiting big plays. Florida had some today, but it was Florida. It seemed everyone who caught a ball was the size of linebacker and had excellent acceleration.
2. Defending the pass. The defense did well today, but we will see what happens against more balanced/traditional passing attacks. Missouri has one of the best wide outs in the country.

RE: The Good
The good- our defense.
The bad- our offense.
How many times has that been said?

RE: The Good
our special teams- good
coaching-so so. good job of keeping team in game. a poor strategy not to exploit our one strength on offense, to run up the middle, while playing finesse ball w possibly the fastest defense in the country. the horrible trick play snap to rosenbauer.
will be interesting to see how owens responds. he had ridiculous pressure right in his face the first quarter, and then as the game progressed got a little time but still rushed his throws.
gotta like a defensive line that can hang w the sec. we weren't as good as florida but guys like hester, Covington, moore, Collins are gonna be anchors for years in the trenches.
florida was out a few guys but I think us missing 3 of our most physical defenders in haden, coleman and e jones hurt us more. this was a physical game and we could have used those guys. luckily, jones and haden will be back soon.

RE: The Good
TO might have rushed some throws, but it looked to me like they were working on a quick release type of technique. Defenses like that allow no time to hang back and think about it, or juke and jive, you have to see the play and make it NOW because the D is about to shut it down. That's the kind of game we should be playing, but it takes speed and precision. We probably have enough speed, but the precision is not quite there. If we could play a quick release, fast tempo game, and make the plays, I bet we would breeze through he MAC.

We have the talent and depth to compete for a championship in the MAC. What we don't have is a consistent QB who can hit receivers in the clutch. Need to see if he progresses as the season goes on.

We still are waiting to replace a QB that is backing up Dalton in the NFL. We have had zero consistancy at that position since Bruce left

RE: The Good
That game was easy to summarize: speed kills.
The UF defenders were everywhere. Every time we made a bubble or screen pass, the receiver was immediately swarmed. Every time we threw the ball down field the coverage was airtight. We won’t see another team that fast on defense this year. I just wish we would have put one into the endzone to get the season rolling. Also, some of the play calling in the redzone was a little suspect in my opinion.
