Well this one got ugly pretty quickly. We had 650 yards of offense but in all honesty Savannah State is not very good at all. I know they play Troy next week so this should certainly be a SBC win next week.

At least ASU stopped scoring at 62 points. GSU should be ashamed.

Savannah St needs to hang em up, they have no business putting a football team on a field.

We played at least half the game with our 2nd/3rd string offense on the field but it didn t matter. Savannah State just could not stop whoever we were playing.

I didn't see the game, so I can't say if Georgia Southern showed bad sportsmanship or not. I will say that sometimes, if the talent disparity is that great, these sorts of things just can't be helped unless you tell your QB to start taking a knee in the third quarter. More specifically, Savannah State probably should not be in the business of playing football games against anyone except for HBCUs and very low-rated FCS teams.

What made the game last forever and give our offense tons of opportunities was Savannah State throwing the ball (or trying to throw it) so much. Many incompletions/sacks/negative plays resulted.

I don't know if this game tells me anything about the Eagles as Savannah State is simply a very poor team.

Saw a tweet from the GSU student paper that Southern ran a fake punt with a huge lead in the third quarter. Can you confirm?

We did fake a punt in the 3rd quarter. I have no explanation for that one. I was surprised we did that with such a lead. Just listened to Coach Monken on post-game show and he sounded like we played a poor game. ???? I won't defend the fake punt-- I don't know what that was about.

At least UAPB won the SWAC last year and is supposedly a top 25 FCS team this year (HAHAHAHAHA) Savannah State has no reason fielding a team.

The fake-punt thing is definitely weird and uncalled for in a game like this. Coach Monken ought to explain what that was about.

Even though it was only against SSU, our backup QB played probably 60-70% of the game and looked very promising in his first college game. It's always nice to have a backup that very comfortable running the offense in case #1 gets injured or in tonight's case is sick.

I'm not too terribly concerned about the fake punt, it surprised me a bit, but didn't seem classless. As for Monken calling it a poor showing, we had an awful first quarter, and we had a LOT of miscues the rest of the game, but Sav. St. is soo bad it didn't matter. I can think of 3 plays off the top of my head that were blown that still went for 20+ yards.

Yea we have a good bit to work on, but it was a solid win over a team we were supposed to beat by 45pts+.

Wellll... Troy will be 2-0 lol
