Justice Served Case Closed!!!!
Community Service and Probation, seems fair for nearly beating someone to death.

No Hate here

Surprised Jessie, Al, and Obama aren't screaming that indefinite probation is cruel and unusual punishment. After all if Obama had a son he would look just like Joshua Reddin (one of the convicted beaters).

Quote:The July 10 assault followed an incident at Lealman Intermediate School, where the teens were in summer school. McKnight tried to sell the victim marijuana, and Reddin was there, too. He refused and told school administrators, according to police. He begged school officials not to identify him, knowing there might be repercussions to his “snitching,” Schopper said.

Had a teacher dropped a dime on these kids his/her name never, ever would have been mentioned, school personnel have a way of never giving up anything on their fellow comrades.

And I didn't see anything where the thugs had to pay for the victim's medical bills. Had a minority been beaten by whites the cost of decades of psychological therapy would have been part of any settlement the kid's parents would have to pay for.

It sounds as if the prosecutor and the judge were taking this seriously. If that was, in fact, the case, then I'm sure restitution to the victim was a part of the plea.

The Montana case is beyond shocking. The defendant had best sleep with one eye open, because there are plenty of people who will want to add a little extra something to his sentence. I don't blame them.

With all that said, the fact remains that the main witness (the victim) in that case committed suicide and the legal case against the defendant was much, much weaker without that testimony. That is why the sentence was so weak.

I won't be surprised when these three eventually do wind up in prison.

The suicide ought to make conviction less likely, but the sentence longer. It makes the impact of the crime look much bigger.

Justice Texas Style

The state makes the right call in filing no charges. I actually think the guy should get a cash reward.
