Both of those 2 "FCS" teams are from the non scholly Pioneer. Like I said on the CAA Prediction thread, Pioneer is nothing more than a glorified Div III conference some of whom's teams still schedule DIIIs. Of the doz I-AA conferences, Pioneer is hands down the worst. That they now get a bid is an absolute joke.
5 Pioneer teams in action tonight. All 5 lost:
North Dakota 69, Valparaiso 10
Delaware 51, Jacksonville 35 (Again, don't let the score fool you- UD put up 611 yds to 224. UD special teams was horrendous).
YSU 28, Dayton 10
NAIA Grand View 21, Drake 16
NAIA Pikeville 13, Moreshead 10

RE: Other CFB games Week 1
Went to the UCONN / Towson game tonight. Both of Towson's lines played better and UCONN's QB Whittmer played horribly. On the bright side Towson's kicking game stinks. Missed 2 PAT's and punts were short wobblers. I was surprised at the size of their linemen. Wore my JMU hat and told several Towson fans that "we" would catch them later. They smiled and nodded. Heard on the 6:00 news before the game a mention of JMU beating VT as a word of caution to UCONN Fans. Sweet.

RE: Other CFB games Week 1
two games i'll be watching with interest tonight are Samford @ Fake GSU on ESPN3 at 7p. any guesses as to the butts in seats? 100% chance that the GA Dome will look awful.
finally, two-time fcs champs ndsu @ kansas state on FoxSports1 at 8:30p. I don't see them winning, but who knows. If they do win, they're going to three-peat.

I know IU plays like a mediocre MAC school but I'm pretty sure they're wrecking Indiana State right now.
Sorry wrong I State. Meant Illinois State.
Very interesting. Nobody mentions one of the better CUSA teams, Tulsa gets killed by a good but not top MAC team, Bowling Green. ESPN Link BG 34 - Tulsa 7 Kent State QB went out early with an ankle injury. The MAC won 3 games and Akron went down in flames to UCF. A win against Akron does not mean much in regards to judging the MAC as a conference. We even beat Akron in their house last year for our only win. The MAC is a very good Football conference and has some nice BB teams, along with other sports. Know you prefer CUSA for conference rivals and that is fine, but did not like a dis to the MAC go un answered. Perhaps the MAC should keep an eye on Towson. We have their guy, Robert L. Caret PhD is our president now.

There's an upset brewing in Manhattan, KS. Wow, NDSU is unreal. They lead 7-0, but seem to be in control.

Stats through 3 Quarters- NDSU trails ranked KSU by 4 entering the 4th. These guys can play. Depth might wear em down in the last quarter, but can you imagine these guys w/ a BCS label and 22 additional scholarships ? Go Bison
Team Stats NDSU KSU
First Downs 13 15
Total Plays 57 43
Total Yards 302 302
Passing 113 269
Rushing 189 33
Penalties 1 / 5 1 / 5
Possession 27:14 17:45
Turnovers 1 1

RE: Other CFB games Week 1
well that's some kansas state home cookin' if i ever saw it from the refs. ndsu clearly kept ksu from getting a 1st down on a 4th down play and they gave them a very generous ball spot for the first down anyways.
then refs review video that shows he didn't cross the first down marker and still let the call stand. that could've let ndsu get back in the game.

I love the No Fear attitude by the Bison on that last 3rd down. Very aggressive and took KSU out of FG position. I hate the usual FCS attitude of playing cautious. NDSU has a real chance here.

I'm pretty sure that Towson, NDSU, New Hampshire, Richmond, etc all show that they show up against FBS opponents. I think it's more an issue of the JMU HC's mentality towards these games. I saw aggression last night from Towson, I see a NDSU coach who knows he can win and plans on it.

GA State might be the best textbook example of how not to be a start up program and how not to move to FBS.

RE: Other CFB games Week 1
SMU and Texas Tech has been a good game. Refs are loving Texas Tech though. Anyone else see the holding call that negated an SMU touchdown in the first half? It was absolutely ridiculous. Defender tackles the runningback thinking he has the ball, holding called on the runningback. SMU picks up a couple yards on the long 3rd and goal then misses the field goal.
