interesting to see we actually upgraded the turf, didn't just replace the old turf with the warranty:

I heard O'Cain requested the turf be new to cope with the new look 80+ play offense and extra wear and tear on it during games. 03-idea04-cheers

The article says there was nothing done out of the ordinary to cause the deteriation of the turf...

uhh... anyone see how that thing was under gray tarp during stadium construction trapping all types of condensation and it must have been like an oven underneath all that. I think JMU got lucky to get some warranty discounts but in the future, do the stadium expansion Part deux in conjunction with new turf being laid down... if its an 8 year warranty then we should expect stadium expansion to ramp up in 2021!

Yeah I agree. There was also that flood that turned BFS into one of the largest outdoor seated swimming pools. Hard to believe that qualifies as normal wear and tear.
