It really was not a disappointed career at Rice, but it was not as great as he had been projected as a recruit.

Question: Do guys who bounce around the league like this make decent money?

It's $6k per week (minimum) if you're on the practice squad. If on the regular roster, I'm seeing minimum rookie base salary is just over $400k annually.

Yes, you have to be good at not blowing it all each week. But I'm pretty sure $54,000 per year is more than the average first year salary for undergraduates.

It's also not exactly a smooth career path from there for most. Once you've had your 2-3 years on the practice squad, you're starting over in a new career and new salary path.

I assume being on an NFL practice squad, even if you never make the roster, pays better than being in the CFL?

Yes. And you don't have to learn the nuances of the game up there.

Just saw that the Bucs picked up Scott Solomon. He'll be active tomorrow.

I would like to see the Pats make a trade for Casey. He's 3rd string in Philly, after starting the season injured and New England needs TE's and I think Thor would absolutely shine with Brady and that scheme.
