Coaches on Hot Seat
I know in a thread recently we were talking about coaches maybe on the hot seat...

just saw this from CBS Sports:
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball..._1:col_2=5

not counting the ones that haven't had a game yet....

UNLV Bobby Hauck 4.5
USC Lane Kiffin 4
Missori Gary Pinkel 4
E Michigan Ron English 4
Texas Mack Brown 3.5
UMass Charley Molnar 3.5
Maryland Randy Edsall 3.5
Army Rich Ellerson 3.5

a few guys really helped themselves out last year-
UCF George O'Leary from 3.5 down to 1.5
ND Brian Kelly from 3.5 down to 1
Duke David Cutcliffe from 3.5 to 0.5

RE: Coaches on Hot Seat
Dodd's graphic is wrong about Beckman. This is his 2nd year at Illinois. He was 2-10 overall, 0-8 in the Big Ten last year. That's why he's a 4.0 out of 5 on this list.

Bobby Hauck's hot seat ought to be 10 out of 5. He's 6-32 in three years. If he doesn't have a winning season this year and UNLV still doesn't can him, UNLV would be branded as a program that doesn't care at all about winning.

Mack Brown should be at least half a point lower. Steve Sarkisian should be at least half a point higher (so at least 3.5); he's probably out if UW finishes 4th in the Pac-12 North again this year.

I think I'd agree more with you on Sarkisian than Brown. I could easily see if Brown has another 7-5 type year him being in trouble.

I think that Lane Kiffin will solidify his status at Southern Cal with another 6-7 season.

It is not his fault about sanctions and only 65 scholarship players.

I think that he deserves several more chances to prove himself.

Pasqualoni isn't "safe" at UConn. He gets them to a bowl this year or he's gone.

Last year, UConn had the #9 defense and the #110 offense. Husky fans are tired of incompetence on offense.

You don't want any changes at USC; you just want to keep beating them.04-chairshot

Another weak performance for the Longhorns and Mack Brown will get "Bobby Bowdened." (Makes you wonder what would be happening if Muschamp hadn't cut out early.)

I think Pelini should be higher. The blow out by Wisconsin in the B1G championship game should be worth a half point. At this point in Frank Solich's tenure, Solich had a better record than Pelini and was Osborne's annointed successor. Yet he was fired after a 9-3 season.

I can't decide about Kiffin. I understand the scholarship problem but still think he isn't doing the job.

Finally, I'd give Holgerson a solid 4. Another weak season on defense and the Mountaineer faithful will be pining for Daryl Talley and Sam Huff.

Your correct. Lane Kiffin has won everywhere he has been. Except for high school, college,or pro. This man is a moral pillar. It's not like he let his father take blame for him and then turned around an fired him for it.

UMASS's coach is in this 2nd season and English will get more time at EMU. EMU has been a coaching graveyard and if their administration has any sense they will see the improvements English has made in what may be the toughest division in G5 football.

I wish I could say that Ferentz is more likely a 3.5 than a 3.0 but unfortunately, I cannot truthfully say such.

I don't recall any sadness or remorse out of Southern Cal fans regarding the Davie, Willingham and Weis days...... :)

RE: Coaches on Hot Seat
Not that I'm complaining but I'm surprised London isn't on the hot seat.

London is 16-21 over 3 years while Groh was 17-21 his last 3 years. So London will have to win 6 games this year to match Groh's final four years.

I know Hokie fans were contributing heavily to the "keep Al Groh" fund. I suspect we'll be able to extend London's tenure a few years longer since the UVA fans haven't even caught on yet.

Oh yeh, I forgot they just hired London two babysitters. I guess that'll buy him some time if he listens to them. Can you believe he's the highest paid coach in the state?

Monte Kiffin was a great pro coach, but never did too well with college kids. He was fired from his job at NC State after only 3 seasons. He is also believed to be the person who blew the whistle on Danny Ford at Clemson.

London's at a 3 which is pretty realistic.

I think in the ACC the one that I think should be higher is Grobe with Wake Forest.

I think Pelini's properly placed. Second year in, and they're playing for the BCS spot. He'll be expected to compete for it again, and if he doesn't make it, it's next year when it's "win or else." And I don't envy him if he doesn't do it this year...people are going to think the 'Huskers should cruise in that western portion of the B1G next year with Wisconsin and Iowa looking like the only real challenges.

The B1G newness will wear off in Lincoln. By name recognition, nobody should be able to hang with them in the West, and I think they know it.

When Pasqualoni was hired, another person mentioned was a young offensive coach at Arkansas. I forget his name. I don't follow coaches close enough to have a particular person in mind. I know we need a young, aggressive coach like Edsall was when he took over in 1999. No retreads, unless it's Nick Saban. 03-lmfao
