RE: Top 25 college football average ticket prices
Terry this is far from accurate. To actually determine the cost of tickets you have to know how much has to be donated to the athletic fund before you can purchase your tickets. A season book at Auburn in the end zone or upper decks might cost you between an $600 to $800 dollar contribution before you buy your season books at just under $500 each with a maximum of 2. With larger contributions you can purchase more seats of course, but you can see what I'm getting at here. A pair of tickets therefore cost approximately $1700 for the sake of argument for the cheapest of seats in the stadium. That's $850 per book to sit in the end zone. That comes to $120 plus per ticket regardless of opponent. And last year that was for a team that won 3 games.

What a hub gets for tickets will be skewed for winners who play other winners in big games. The actual cost for average teams flies under the radar and is really more reflective of a ridiculous trend in ticket prices that is in this economy leading to a down trend that may continue for the broader market.

It isn't clear how they are getting their data. I was looking for that in the article and they didn't say. They may be looking at on-line prices or they may be factoring in all the things you mention. Without knowing what they are measuring, its hard to evaluate this.

After seeing this, it makes me happy that I can afford the tickets to our games, plus parking for little or nothing.
