Wilder mentioned the tight end formation in his interview on Pirate radio. We definitely will need to add some beef to the offensive line vs. the FBS competition.

Good grief, instead of using the element of surprise, let's tell the world what we are planning to do both offensively and defensively. The fact that both Wilder and Nagy talked so freely about the gameplan makes me think this might be a ruse, particularly defensively.

More like mindgames. Of course, we are gonna throw every weapon we have at ECU. Give them something to think about over the next week.

Heck we might even see David Washington line up at double tightend.

There is no real "element of surprise" with a tight end. More than half the teams they play use tight ends. The trick here is to get them to spend some time on something other than our bread and butter - the 4 wide set.

Still heavy use of the tight end would be unusual for us.

If you guys think bobby wilder would be dumb enough to tell the other team our real GAMEPLAN in the newspaper I just don't know what to tell you.

We might show them some tight end sets but I guarantee if its Melvin Vaughan, he's going in motion all over the field and creating matchup nightmares.

By putting guys in motion it tells the qb what type of scheme the defense is running for that particular play.

If a guy does with him, he's usually in man coverage and if they stay the same, probably a zone.

Heineke is one of the best qbs in all of college football at diagnosing what a defense is doing and picking it apart piece by piece.

In all honest, his 25 td 1 int performance in the Caa/playoffs as a true freshman may be one of the single most remarkable feats in football history, even more impressive to me than his record setting sophomore campaign.

Only making a single solitary mistake for over half the season + the playoffs against Caa teams as a true freshman is mind blowing.

Whatever we are telling the other team we might do, it's simply to give them one more thing to worry about in practice preparing for us, I promise you that much.

Even the one INT that year wasn't really a mistake. It was a hail mary at the end of the Towson debacle.

Yep. Pretty much a perfect half season + playoffs as a true freshman.

Unreal.

For a split second, I thought this thread was going to be about Wilder growing a mustache or something.

That would probably be in a Blaine Taylor thread.

In fact I believe he had several of those threads.

I like it. It's going to open up the play action and hopefully keep the heat off of Heinicke.

I don't think Bobby Wilder is dumb enought to reveal our real game plan in the newspaper.

BTW: On a related note, here is a list of games that TH has lost as a starter.

Towson 2011 Homecoming
Georgia Southern 2011 Playoffs
Villanova 2012 Homecoming
Georgia Southern 2012 Playoffs

Let's see if we can keep the number to one hand for a while...

We lost that Villanova game because of the bye week before HC. Our timing was off and our never saw so many drops by the WRs.

That and our defense couldn't get a stop...but that never happens.
