OT: Subforums
Do people like having subforums? I know I do not like the idea or concept. I like one forum and I can quickly scan all the topics/responses. If there is a thread I am not interested in, I won't click on it. But if all of the sudden it has 40 responses, that will pique my interest.

RE: OT: Subforums
I only see the need for maybe one for truly off topic stuff. For example a purely Wahingron Nationals thread or something might belong there or something like that. But otherwise no... I only visit the main forum.

RE: OT: Subforums
How about this:

All OTs related to ODU in any way, shape or form are moved to the OT subforum.
All other OTs remains on the JMU main board with the OT label.

I am getting sick of seeing all the ODU sh!t on our board. I can not believe these people have such an inferiority complex. I don't think any other fan base is like it. Anywhere. Moving these ODU topics (for those of you that are compelled to start one or respond to one) to the subforum should reduce the ODU troll fest on our boards. I do agree that some of the OT can be interesting and its no big deal to leave it on the main board (with the exception of the Albany/Bob Ford retirement thread of course :).

This is basically how I feel as well.

RE: OT: Subforums
I think it's silly to have the OT Boards and not use them, if people can't remember to check them out when there's a new thread (it shows up a different color for crying out loud) then they're idiots.

I'm sure Nats fans don't want to see the Braves thread at the top of the forum every week, and vice versa.

Additional threads off topic cause clutter.

If you don't want an OT Board at all, get rid of it, but having some OT things in there and not all is stupid.

I think the question we should be asking ourselves is what we consider OT, and then we work going forwards to create the threads that belong there in there.

Ah darn it, I misread the question (dyslexia fun can be!) and picked 'No' by mistake. I am in favor of removing the OT boards. I can't see a way to change the answer.

I'm a fan of the subforums. Not trying to scroll through threads about the Nationals and Redskins and Caps and other inferior teams. I come here for Dukes.

I'd agree, if we had that crap. I think we have collectively done a pretty good job of avoiding that other stuff, especially anything to do with the widely despised redskins...03-puke

Now, if that stuff does become an issue then I'd say have the subforums available, but having a discussion or two here and there about favorite liquor/cheerwine concoction doesn't bother me in the least. $.02

Well, can we at least agree to cease any further ODU threads? I've grown tired of the incessant ODU bashing which then invites ODU folks over here to bash JMU, leads into discussions of SAT scores, tax brackets, community college and I-81 truckstops, and the cycle continues... Do it for the kids.

Give me less government intervention, not more. I can decide for myself if I want to continue reading something. Plus, it takes up more space at the top of the page. The top should begin with the most recent post, not have it 2/3rds of the way down the page. I shouldn't have to scroll down, at all, to get to see relevent information.

RE: OT: Subforums
Personally, I like the subforums because it allows the OT threads to be on their own and not buried in a ton of other threads. But that is just me. However, I will do what people want. We could though move the subforums to the bottom for a while and see how that works.

A sub-forum is like telling me what street I have to live on or what street I cannot live on. I am wise enough to choose for myself. At least that's the way I look at it.
