CEO of Fiat/Jeep and UT possibilities?
CEO of Fiat/Chrysler Sergio Marchionne has spoken at a UT commencement, holds an honorary degree from UT and visits Toledo often with so many Jeep models produced here. And the recent UT football commercials included Jeep workers. That being said could UT possibly seek naming rights from Jeep for the Glass Bowl? Is there anything going on in any front with Jeep and UT?

Some Chinese paid a bunch of cash money for a chunk of unused land and all they got was a rock. An entire icon is a bit much.

Never a fan of "naming" rights for icons. The hill next to THE Glassbowl could be called Jeep Hill. I'd be fine with that. A new Engineering Bldg, Jeep Hall? Sure. Jeep Alumni Pavilion. Not a problem (if it isn't already named).

I'm not even aware of a historical Jeep/Chrysler presence on campus.

The Glass Bowl doesn't need naming rights from Jeep, unless they dump millions of dollars into it and increase capacity to 45,000.

Bingo. Similar to Louisville and the Pap John's money that was used to expand their stadium to 55,000. As part of the funding agreement for the stadium expansion, Papa John's received naming rights for the stadium for 50 years.

Ok fair enough. They can name the back line judge.

Cardinal Stadium was built on reclaimed brownfield. That's where Papa John's got the better ingredients. There's an inherent connection between the company and the university.

Now if Jeep were to throw in a transit system between the campuses, that would solve a student commute and parking problem and a pot-hole problem!

I don't see why anyone would object to the "Daimler-Chrysler Glass Bowl" or the "Jeep Glass Bowl". It they were to give UT around $200k per year, why would anyone not want that for UT? (I say $200k b/c I believe the Mud Hens get around that much per year from 5/3). As long as they wouldn't change the name to "Jeep Stadium" or "Daimler-Chryslet Stadium", I would be all for it.

they need to paper the stadium with jeep workers if they get naming rights since they'd most likely increase capacity
