And Hoopster is filling up my e-mail inbox with (bball) recruiting.

Is Fall gone already? Did I Rip Van Winkle it?

CMU has surprised me the last two years, beating NIU at home two years ago and winning at Iowa with a strong finish to last season. I think CMU will be very competitive in the MAC this year and should not be overlooked. Next season the MAC West will be up for grabs with the NIU, Toledo, and Ball State losing key players, and CMU could very well be in the mix.

About EMU, I expect to see great improvement from them this season. Another down season will not cut it and changes will need to be made. I would think four wins is not enough to save Ron, but we will see.

Good luck to both teams.

Toledo loses 2 starters on Defense and 4 on Offense for next season. Rockets are loaded with young talent and most importantly only lose 1 starter on the OL.

I see some very good MAC teams this season and next.

One of these days the prognosticators need to look at Toledo as the next dominant MAC team.

Toledo is losing their starting QB, WR, and RB. I'd say those are key players.

RE: Bottom line expectations for this fall
Guys,

I think this is why we play the games each year.. All it takes is for a key player to go down and it will change spirit of the whole team.

Also there are kids on this team that others teams are not expecting..

I would say that we will have a true reading of this team by week #5. We could be anywhere from 1-4 to 4-1 if we come to play.. watch the 2nd and 3rd game we are playing to see how we will do in the MAC..

Our team will be well balance on offense and stronger and deeper on the defensive side of the ball..

Dear Pudge,
I totally agree. That's why I do not agree with the prognosticators in the football magazines, or blogs, or whatever. We are going to surprise people this year, and it's going to be fun.
