I'm being somewhat sarcastic myself because I like John Martin, but I do think they (radio personalities of memphis) have sort of a joking attitude towards memphistigers.org posters and I kind of don't like that.
A few of us may be intelligent, educated and experienced, but "when you lay down with dogs, you get fleas".
Sir, let me tell you! You certainly are not one of the few!

Martin did not differentiate. He indicated that you, me, and everyone on MT.org lacks intelligence. In other words, he thinks he is superior to you.

Martin is at war with - as I recall from my Marketing classes - his employer's "heavy users". It is a curious tactic considering the dire financial condition and fading relevance of traditional newspapers.
I think Martin - like Wolken and Parrish before him - uses the CA platform to better his prospects regardless of the negative impact on the CA. The reasons the CA allow it is a mystery.

Therefore, I will take action by not following Martin on Twitter, canceling my CA subscription (at least for a few weeks), and sending an email to Martin and the CA editor (or other appropriate person) explaining specially my reason for cancelation.
Of course, the impact would be greater if other MT.org members follow suit as their own convictions allow.
EDIT: Martin's email address is not accessible on the CA website. He does not care to hear from mere customers. I sent an email to the editor instead.
John Martin a freelance reporter for the CA. Not under contract I'd surmise. Under such a deal....he'd get paid as much as he contributes to the CA.
As someone else suggested...it is kind of funny for Martin to slam our board...as some of the information on here ends up in his stories.

Nicely done.
His value of the attention depends on the consequences of his action. For example, Riley Cooper received lots of attention, but the results did not work in his favor.
If folks do nothing, then we can expect more insults in the future. OTHO, some people enjoy it.

first of all I am not sure he is "at war" with anyone. He made a quip about mt.org in passing.
also, I thought most of the posters here have already made it clear that they do not read that "fish wrap" so how exactly is he running off his "heavy users"?
as for the comments about him getting his info from mt.org or using info he finds on mt.org, those are the type comments that get this place ridiculed. They are absolutely crazy and false.

A 20 something year old kid says something without thinking before he speaks. Imagine that. Go figure. All these talking heads know you get more notice being controversial within reason.
Kind of like professional wrestling. The bad guy taunts and insults the spectators relentlessly. The people hate him, its called the "sell." Then at some point later he comes out to the rescue of a good guy who is being beaten by a gang of other bad guys, but this bad guy has had enough. He comes out runs the gang off. He takes the mic and announces to the crowd he his fed up and is now turning his ways. He is now liked by the crowd.
One season a sports writer says something bad about a team and fans hate him, and next season he says something good and fans like him again.
