Williams said he fielded calls from a number of programs, including Alabama, Kentucky and East Carolina.
But I thought transfers weren't allowed between Tuscaloosa and UAB! Oh, that applies to major sports, only. Oh, wait...

The article says he will have to sit out a year. That doesn't seem very fair, since he wasn't looking to go anywhere.

All those schools wanted a player that had a losing culture ingrained in him??

I read this on twitter sometime yesterday through the LQ Nupes Twitter account. Good for Jackie, hopefully he can make the best out of the situation.

Life's tough.
But, IF he was having issues with competition for playing time here, it's not like he's escaping that by going to UCF. Plus, he doesn't have any momentum down there like he did here. Hopefully he handles it better this time, whatever "it" was. I'm sure getting kicked off a team is thought provoking.

If you don't do enough of whatever is asked of you, to such an extent that a coach feels the program is better off without you, you are in effect looking to go somewhere else. Imagine the chaos if the NCAA said you don't have to sit out a year if you are dismissed from a team. A kid becomes a surprise star at a non-cartel school then gets "informal" phone calls during the offseason and suddenly he's missing curfews, clowning on coaches, sitting out drills, etc. all so that his current coach is forced to dismiss him...into the waiting arms of Tennessee, Auburn, Michigan, or another Cartel school.
BTW, this is no indictment of JW. That he got dismissed is just a fact. In the context of him sitting out a transfer year, the "Why?" is really irrelevant.

Said no player ever who was dismissed from a team for highly subjective philosophical reasons.
There has to be a better solution than this one-size-fits-all rule.
