Wonder what precipitated this move by Monken? I'm hearing it had something to do with some idiot giving reports from a closed scrimmage. People do not follow the rules the rest of us pay the consequences.

That sounds like a planned move to allow for actual installation of the Texas State Optical game plan.

I'm sure Todd Monken comes here to get insider info.

I just read the tweet from NM.

I wonder if this was planned or did someone go to the Monk and say:

You know this guy on CSNBBS called 'Stinkfist' watched the scrimmage the other night, gave stats, and all your secrets away.

And the age old question.. Does a stripper really like me for who I am and not how much I tip her for touching my happy spot?

Carl Pelini closed FAU practices when he came on board. He allows media in to see the last 1/2 hour or so and gives interviews. FAU athletics tweets out pictures and updates during practice but obviously those are all positive.

It took some getting used to it but I think thats the way its going now. Coach's dont want the distraction and possiblity of "spies".

Make fun if you want guys. Monken has a grad assistant that monitors all the social media that evolves USM. The GA's main responsibility is to monitor players twitter and Facebook accounts and to educate them on what not to put out for consumption. I assure you Monken was not pleased about the info coming out of a closed practice.

Coach McGee did the same thing with UAB after a couple of months...I get it totally, this is the moment when the coaches have to really work with the players and have their full, undivided attention...Good luck, Coach Monken...

I bet OP knows the answer to both questions.

If the primary reason why was something posted here by stinkfist, then that is an overreaction. There is almost certainly more to it than this, and the question I would lead with is when Monken intended to close practices to begin installing the Texas State game plan. Few coaches leave practices open to the public once they start installing a game plan.

There is a huge difference between getting mad about someone posting something on the internet and making a major change in access to the program because someone posted something on the internet. Changing access to the program should never be an irrational decision, and the way you are describing this makes it sound like an irrational decision.

All coaches monitor their players' social media. When you don't, you end up with Ole Miss recruits riling the racists up by claiming their daughters are better lays than women of their own color.

I think the day was coming whether Stink posted it or not. We're 16 days out guys, and he's gotta start putting in the finishing touches for Game 1 through Game 12 then begin prep for Game 1.

McGee does the same thing nothing sinister about it. The first few days/couple of weeks are open as they're more about conditioning/base stuff then he closes them while they start to put the plays actually in.

McGee has always had the same policy. Spring practices open, Fall practices closed.

It's because it isn't until Fall that you start installing specific plays that you don't want out in the public.
