Like I asked in a previous thread, are we still boycotting Kroger?

We need to sticky a list of places to boycott.

If you have to ask, then the answer is yes. You are not permitted to go anywhere deemed unworthy by an internet messageboard.

Now, do you feel I have given you the attention you so desired with your post? If not, I can be a bigger smartass... 07-coffee3

Come on, dude. You, of all people, should realize. What would be the reaction of the locals if a person moved into Knoxville, and started a restaurant serving ....... what is knoxville famous for..... possum innerds. Okay, Serving opossum innerds, and had a bunch of jerseys from Alabama, and Kentucky, (and we'll throw in a Memphis State jersey just for good measure) because that's where their employees went to school? This is pretty much the same thing.

I got GA's point (though I wouldnt have started a thread on it) and I bet the owner did as well. If you are creating or implying a sports theme with memorabilia on the wall, it would be wise to include the local team (unless you have zero business sense). I always look for Tigers gear where I think they should have it.

The rest of this is just hater talk.

I think if a Memphis area resturant is going to display sports items, at least a cursory nod to the Memphis teams, would only be appropriate.

Is it a big deal, not really, but I would decorate the store to please the customers more than I would the employees.

And it is that kind of comments that make a difference. I was one of the first to ask the owner of the TN Sports Zone in Cordova why didn't he have Tiger gear. The blue keeps invading his store. I love it!!!

Well? Haters seem to endeavor to hate.

Oh, and +2 under the old system.

Knoxville doesn't have a single "notable food". It does BBQ, but just worse BBQ than West TN and North Carolina.

The locals would probably eat the food if it tasted good, and not if it didn't. The locals here aren't nearly as insecure about their team, as the OP seems to make Memphis fans feel about ours. If the food is good, eat it; if not, don't. Period.

Totally the store owner's call. Placate the local fans or lose the business of old coots like the OP. Judgment call.

That's way too grown up an attitude.

No, seriously, you are right about the insecurity. They are already in a P5, so what do they have to worry about. We have to fight and scrap and claw and hang on to every vestige of recognition we can sustain.

I'll begrudgingly say that UTK fans know that UTK dominates the market here in Knoxville. A place that opened up that didn't have the obligatory orange crap everywhere would be seen as a novelty, and few if any UT fans would make a hubbub about the lack of UT gear. Not the same scenario in Memphis, which is split between several fanbases.

I would say so. It also depends. I don't want to go to dinner at J. Alexanders and see ANY team gear. But if team gear is apropos, I would like seeing Gizz gear, St. Louis gear, Redbirds gear. and Tiger gear. And, for that matter, UT and Ole Miss gear. Just don't exclude the local university. It seems like a logical expectation.
