RE: Tigers May Scrimmage Baylor 11/2/13
Baylor didn't make the NCAA tournament last season, but beat Iowa in the National Invitation Tournament championship to finish the year 23-14.
The Bears return three of their top four scorers from last year in Cory Jefferson, Isaiah Austin and Brady Heslip.
The scrimmage is tentatively scheduled for Nov. 2 at a to-be-determined location. No fans or media will be permitted to attend per NCAA rules.

Baylor should be a very strong team this season.

I have never understood the rationale for keeping the media out of scrimmages.

They lost:
-5' 10" PG Pierre Jackson - 20ppg, 3.8rpg, 7.1apg
-6' 1"PG AJ Walton - 7ppg, 3.2rpg, 3.6apg
-6'4" SG Deuce Bello
-6'4" PG LJ Rose 3rd in assists 1.2apg
Backcourt this year:
-6'2" CG Gary Franklin - 18mpg, 4ppg, 1.1apg
-6'2" SG Brady Heslip - 26mpg, 8.6ppg, 0.5apg
-6' Freshman PG Kenny Cherry - 3 star
They have a really good front court but I expect that we will kill them with the press since they are so thin at the guard position. Heslip is a spot up shooter and not a great ball handler as well.

Baylor always has guys that are 7 feet tall but weigh 200 pounds. Just get under them and push them around and we'll be fine.

Yet we're pretty light in the frontcourt. Losing Jackson would hurt any team, but their talent down low is very good. Austin may have a break out year this season.

Baylor liked to zone so the scrimmage should help us test our zone offense.

It's possible with Austin. Biggest problem seems to be that he would rather shoot the outside shot. He was 4th on the team in 3-pt attempts. He shot 33%. He shot nearly 60% in 2pt FG's.
