Some around here said no way would the SEC sign all these bowls but turns out they did. No reason not too ...

RE: Looks Like SEC Will Be In Birmingham
Good news, that should allow the AAC to make an announcement soon

Lineup looking (No Prefered Order)
Locked
1 Military vs ACC
2 Birmingham vs SEC/ACC Backup
3 BOBB VS ACC 2014 & 2016 then CUSA/ACC backup

Bowls not confirmed yet
4 Armed Forces vs B10/B12 (Higly Likely)
5 New Orleans vs SB??
6 Hawaii?? proposed split with CUSA vs MWC
7 Miami?? (Hoping for Pac 12. Does thsi bowl still happen if Christmas bowl happens with PAC vs MWC? Who would be the opponent if that happens? )
Any other possible bowls?

Looks like AAC will face the last SEC pick in B'ham...correct?

ETask: Is the AAC the only non BCS/big5 conference slotted to face the ACC and SEC?

That last SEC pick is likely to not exist most years.

The SEC's opponents in the remaining eight bowls are: Belk (ACC), Gator (ACC/Big Ten), Music City (ACC/Big Ten), Liberty (Big 12), Outback (Big Ten), Texas (Big 12), AdvoCare V100 (ACC) and BBVA Compass (American).

Nine bowls for 12 teams...and the playoff? Why not just start the Commonwealth Bowl in Lexington and everyone gets a prize.

RE: Looks Like SEC Will Be In Birmingham
If the SEC has a season anything like last season, they'll never fill 3-4 of those games - including the Birmingham game.

And this kind of gamesmanship can only happen if they are all winning OOC... which is why P5 only playing P5 will never happen. They can't have it BOTH ways.

Doesn't matter. In 3 of 12 years they will also supply the Orange Bowl opponent making 11 bowls + the playoffs=likely 12 to 13 SEC teams have to be bowl qualified in some years to fill all the slots. That's a tall order even for the SEC. The way article is written, it appears the Birmingham Bowl is the bottom bowl. I expect we will rarely ever see an actual SEC team there. lol...It appears the SEC opinion of Birmingham matches my own.

I think there will be an SEC team there more often than not. I base this on history. The BBVA currently shares the 8/9 pick for the SEC in a (previously) 12 team league. They filled this pick more often than not, despite putting 2 in BCS. Kentucky, Ole Miss, and South Carolina have played in 3 out of last 4 BBVA's. the 8/9 in a 12 team league is equivalent to the 10 for a 14 team league, so I think they will fill it 50-75% of time base on historical averges. Also, remember, the ACC is the backup so if they don't fill it, we get an ACC team instead.

It's very clear from the article that Birmingham and AdvoCare are the last two picks. Birmingham is #9 at best. The SEC won't fill it unless they are simply awful at the top of their conference.
