Jimoh just misses qualifying for finals of women's long jump
Tough luck for Funmi Jimoh at the IAAF World Track and Field Championships. She had a fair jump of 6.57 meters (and two fouls) which placed her 13th in the qualifying round - one spot out of qualifying for the finals.
She actually had the same mark as Brittany Reese of the USA but since Reese had two 6.57 marks in the qualifying round, Reese advances as the 12th and final qualifier. Some of you might remember Reese didn't finish in the top three at the USA Championships but got a 4th qualifying spot in the Worlds due to being the defending world champ. Another American finished 11th in qualifying just one centimeter ahead of Jimoh at 6.58 meters.
