Owls in NFL Preseason
Vance McDonald off to a great start. Leading the 49ers with 65 yards on 4 receptions.

Luke Willson has 2 catches for 18 yards. His game is on NFLN.

With the concussion rules, this might be it for JD with the Cards.

He would make a great defensive back coach.

Great to see that Sendejo has settled in with an NFL team that seems to appreciate him. Great job, Drew.

Quote:2. Rookie TE stealing the show: The Seahawks are anxiously awaiting the return of top tight end Zach Miller. But in the meantime rookie Luke Willson from Rice is the talk of camp. Wilson is 6-feet-4 and has 4.5-second 40 speed -- and he's getting valuable time with the starting unit. When Miller returns, so does the 12 personnel package.

Wow a lot of players to keep track of. I may have to buy the NFL package :)

I didn't see any catches for our rookie tight ends this weekend but all they need to do to make a team might be to stay healthy. There seems to be a huge rash of injuries to tight ends throughout the league. Miami needs a TE for sure after Dustin Keller was lost for the season last night at the Texans game (and I don't want to say it was a dirty play because it wasn't. But I don't know how the Texans can spend all that money on a new scoreboard but decide to keep the same turf year after year when it seems to produce a ton more injuries than most fields).

Vance is "working through something" that's described as a minor injury sustained in the Niners' first exhibition game. He was not slated to play in last Friday's exhibition game and be out a total of 7-10 days.

I have heard some complaints, but this indicates (albeit a while ago) that people were pleased with the Reliant surface
http://www.examiner.com/article/reliant-...of-players

I don't think the Texans choice of surface has anything to do with money. They have artificial turf installed there already that they use for non-Texans games.

Luke had a couple of catches tonight with the Seahawks first team, including a 17-yarder on their opening drive. Looks like he'll make the team and get a lot of PT for a rook. Way to go, Luke!

Saw in the box score that McGuffie had a solo tackle on special teams last night for the Raiders (dropping a Bear returner at the 13 after a deep Janikowski kickoff). Hoping Sam's speed and grit can keep him on the team. Oakland is a mess, but they rarely lack speed guys.

Very true. Apologies to any Raiders fans on the board, but sometimes I feel like they'd be better off attempting to enter a 4x100 relay team in the Olympics than playing football. Read somewhere that they have around eight guys that can run under a mid-4.3 40.

RE: Owls in NFL Preseason
Tiki - It was mentioned a couple weeks back that he had a concussion. This is not unexpected - at least by me, even though I had no idea of the severity. Just seemed like a roster invitee like him was fighting for a position to begin with. Losing any time to a concussion, while necessary, makes it that much harder.
