MyBB NCAA asks for more info in Dixon's waiver request
Thoughts on what this means?

"The NCAA has sought more information from the University of Memphis as part of its review of the school’s request that senior transfer Michael Dixon be eligible to play this season." Link is $ >>>>

Pretty much. Impossible to say what it means when we don't know the nature of what they requested.

RE: NCAA asks for more info in Dixon's waiver request
I'll hazard a guess. If the NCAA has already decided it was 1) a violation of an existing rule they need nothing else. Cite the rule and be done. Or 2) if the NCAA was going to make up a specifically designed 'strict liability like' rule for Dixon (see the strict liability rule created for Memphis) they'd still need no more information. Just do that. So, from my point of view, there's more up side seen than down side to this request.

I would guess... it means they don't have a quick reason to say "Hell no".

So, you're saying there's a chance......

Well that's one way to look at it IMO. But that's good news too. But I tend to agree generally ---- not saying "hell no" means they haven't developed a reason to say 'hell no.' Makes sense - right? And why else ask for additional information from an interested party unless it goes to an element in granting the waiver. Not saying the requested info, whatever it is, exists, or can even be easily provided, but that's beside the point. 03-wink

Just hope the NCAA doesn't draw this out so long that it really doesn't whether the waiver is granted or not. Sorry, but I just don't trust those guys.

Memphis' compliance officer said this is the second request from the NCAA for additional info since the original submission a couple of weeks ago. Guess it's more than just wait around an see. 03-wink

RE: NCAA asks for more info in Dixon's waiver request
Maybe the NCAA has it in their tiny little minds that they can somehow impose strict liability on the tigers for even asking them to clear Dixon, and thus forfeit our season before we get started. Doesn't that sound about par for the course when it comes to that favorite oxymoron, NCAA Wisdom...
