So... I wouldn't so much put a huge spotlight on Heinicke's size.... all of these QBs are 6'1 or shorter:

Drew Brees, Doug Flutie, Michael Vick, Rex Grossman, David Garrard, Mark Brunell, Kordell Stewart, etc....

The main problem with Heinicke is that he is unproven against FBS contendors and that he plays every single snap out of the shotgun with a spread offense. This style of offense might work if he goes to the Eagles with Chip Kelly, but he will not survive the speeds of the defenses in the NFL under center. I don't think a lot of NFL teams would taken unproven FCS QB talent (even if he has thrown for 5000 yards in a season) out of his Junior year.

That being said, I think Heinicke has a high ceiling and very good QB instincts. He reminds me of a Drew Brees with a little more mobility. In that respect, if he continues to impress over the next two years I have no doubt that some NFL teams will be interested in the guy... but for now lets put the horse before the cart

Brees is a freak, much more athletic than anyone gives him credit for. He's the Steve Nash of the NFL and there has never been anyone quite like him. It's unfair to assume TH can just become the next Drew Brees IMO.

Garrard and Brunell would truck most linebackers their first 7 seasons in the NFL, Kordell was one of the most celebrated QB of the 90's and despite being a freak athletically was drafted 60th overall.

Great point on the Spread/Shotgun, it's a scheme that only a few NFL teams are embracing but the Eagles and Patriots especially really seem to like it. It used to be a negative but now it may be a positive.

I couldn't agree more on both points. I like the attitude I keep hearing from coaches and players. They recognize the significant change in level of competition, but they embrace the opportunity to compete at that level. I think this team will surprise some folks this year.

Heinicke is around the same size as Manziel.

Apparently he's a much smaller a-hole though.
