If you guys think RMH is bad, don't ever go to Augusta Health. Lots of horror stories out of that place.

Funny enough, UVA recently received a D in Patient Safety from a national hospital safety ranking. RMH and Augusta Health received As.

Augusta Health is rated in the top 2% of hospitals in the country...

Times have changed from the mid 80s. Thank god for Pegasus back then!

ONly know I'll never set foot in RMH under my own power and have a paper on file that states I cannot be admitted to that facility under any circumstances or they will be sued.

Walk in the front doort and Lindsays Funeral Home takes ya out the back door.

My mother in law that lives in elkton refuses to go to rmh. She also has told everyone that if she's admitted to that hospital, tell them to fly her to UVA.
Unless there has been a 100% restaffing of all positions at rmh, I doubt it has changed. It's the staff, not the facility.

Sounds like alot of you haven't been paying attention to the positive changes that have been happening with regard to medical care in H'Burg.

By the way, I'd try and avoid walking into any front "doorts" (or advice from 03-old folks in Elkton about medical care). 03-wink

RMH is where you go to get sicker. I'm not surprised they have made strides since I was at JMU...they had nowhere to go but up

I beg to differ. I had chronic, idiopathic pancreatitis in 2008, and they kicked me out of the hospital because they thought I was a "narcotics seeking college student" which couldn't have been any further from the truth. What had actually happened was that my pancreas was so swollen, that graphs had blown out. My amylase and lipase levels (for anyone in the industry) weren't responding because my pancreas was so destroyed. I had to be air-lifted to a hospital in NY, and then was airlifted to the Mayo Clinic where I had a pancreas transplant.

F*ck RMH.

My mother-in-law was told by a doctor at rmh in reference to her 94 year old grandmother, after she had a heart attack and was then given little attention by the staff after being admitted, "well she is 94 years old". She then said, "and she's just supposed to go ahead and die? I don't care how old she is"

We've never had any experience with RMH, fortunately, but the local medical community sure doesn't seem as user friendly as here in the Richmond area. I don't know if it's just JMU students or what, but we've had issues with a doctor's office, pharmacy and optometrist in Hburg over the last 4 years. My kids have the same insurance in Hburg as they do here at home, but for some reason providers in Hburg act like they're doing you a tremendous favor by allowing you to buy their services.

I know this isn't the same level, but I tore my ACL at JMU and was told by RMH that it was a sprain and I didn't need an MRI (even after follow up) A couple weeks later the docs out of Baltimore were laughing because it was the most obvious ACL injury they could imagine. #RMHfail.

RE: Birdsong out
So .. Birdsong out 10-14 days is the prediction. I guess that would make him technically available for the opener. More important will be when he resumes practice and what his stamina will be early in the season.

Biggest pain is whether or not we'll run a more open offense without him in the game to start.

The article told you when he'll resume practice. Aug 6 operation + 10-14 days = Aug 16-20. Heck he was reportedly riding a bike yesterday. That doesn't mean "technically available" That means he will be available, and he should be ready. I expect this will have close to little effect on the CCSU game...

I expect to roll in that first game so I don't know how much they'll open the playbook. Then again, we've had a few openers where I expected us to roll and they ended up being tight games. Damn near puked up my vodka in that Bloomsburg game several years ago.

RE: Birdsong out
I would guess MM will use Birdsong's status to his advantage.

If he doesn't want to show much of the playbook, he can gold Birdsong mostly out and has a ready made rationale for this.

If he wants to give Birdsong good reps in game 1, he can be noncommittal about his status and then let him play till the game is hopefully in hand. He'll make sure they work at prepping for each quarterback - although I am not sure there really is too much of a book on any backup we would put out.

I am sure MM would rather not have had the drama, but it does sound like it will not make much of a difference.

Stoss tweeted that Birdsong may be back practicing tomorrow. JMU originally had practice scheduled for tomorrow morning, but has now moved it to tomorrow afternoon/evening because Birdsong has a doctor's appointment in the morning.

Saw Birdsong throwing passes to a sideline Rec yesterday just doing the warm up thing so he is ready in his mind. MM said he'd be practicing if they would let him, just have to hold him back a little. He's ready to play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounding like good news so far. That kid is a healing machine!
Hope he'll be able to play a little for the first game, even if he only gets a few series in.
