Workingodu...that's not going to happen.
I should not post this here, but I am. I made 11 calls to the band directors office from March - June, regarding several recruiting suggestions and even a donor that wanted to help out the Marching Monarchs. Along with that I sent 5 or 6 e-mails. Again no response. I finally talked to someone in Dr. Selig's office. They were fantastic! They relayed the message to Dr. Selig and I had a response later that day. However, he did mention that the band is not under the Athletic Dept. and he appreciated my concerns and felt that the items I suggested would be best addressed with the music dept.
After all that, I finally called the office of athletic bands again (12th time). I talked to a person, a secretary. All my other calls I had left messages.... again with no call back. The young lady informed me that the band director had received my information and that he told her it would not be possible for him to get together with me anytime in the near future. I believe she said the band director was getting ready to go on vacation. I had prepared a 30 or 40 page proposal, centered around recruiting and fund raising. I delivered this package to his office. No one ever called to confirm that it was received. I called back, talked to the same young lady /secretary and was told he, had received the information and thanks. Someone will get back to you....I am still waiting.
I was very disappointed, and will leave it at that.
edit: Let me add. I am not casting stones. My goal has always been to help.
Hey Oldtimer, I can take you right to the band directors front door if you like! Or you can so happen to run into him and his wife walking their dogs in the morning! May be a little creepy but you sound like a man on a mission.
Thanks, I still want to help. I think it is a little late for this year.
I hope that he will allow me to help in the future. I am not sure what, or why for the cold shoulder.
Thanks again, I am sure if it is to be it will work out. I love the band, only want the best for them.
Marching Monarch Band loud and proud Aim High
I appreciate your passion. Keep grinding. Aim high.
I work with several local High School Band directors here in the area. Dr. T has left a bad taste in their mouth. He has not tried to recruit, nor has he made himself available to go out and talk to local HS bands. Several have offered to assist Dr. T over the summer even though their schedules are very busy with their own programs, and he will have nothing to do with them. I was very disappointed to hear this.
