For some reason I feel personally trolled. I'm likely wrong though. 04-cheers

It's true, college students love living in Iowa City. For the whole story though folks really should read that article fully and what is said about the situation in full.

But what can I say? People enjoy their days in Iowa City when they attend The University of Iowa. It is a fun little town.

The article says they came up with this entirely based upon student opinion. So the kids love to party and have a good time in Iowa City. The article doesn't necessarily say that their questioning was only about binge drinking.

Besides, Iowa seems in pretty good company with many of the schools on that list. 04-cheers

I cant believe they outranked the California school! They should be ashamed out there.

Woo hoo???

25 years ago I would be out celebrating this news in the downtown Iowa City bars and bragging to all my high school friends how great a choice I made in schools.

Today this same news makes me much less excited about what this does for Iowa's reputation. Oh weill, still brings back good memories. $1 beer specials. free buffets. Parties everywhere and all day tailgating on Saturdays. And then there was stupid little me sitting in the library getting my homework done.

You're right about the last point. The rankings were not only based off of student survey questions about alcohol/drug use, but also about the popularity of frats/sororities on campus and the number of hours spent outside of class studying. However, I think this list is kinda comparing apples to oranges; a party in a larger city like Austin or NOLA will be a lot more different than one in Athens or Oxford.

Miami comes in at sixteen after being number nine last year, in my personal opinion I guess we're 'underrated.' Go visit Oxford on Green Beer Day and tell me that we should be at sixteen. 04-cheers

You are right and when you really look at that list, there are well respected institutions on that list including your Miami. In a way I am actually quite happy for Iowa to be at the top of THAT list considering who else is also on the list. College is about the total experience and the memories you make.
