A little disappointed that Terrence Williams got no mention in this article or in the one about the QBs. I had high hopes for him but he must have slipped on the depth charts.

I have been watching practices and I am excited for the depth of this team. Lots of guys making plays. Good quarterback competition behind Owens. Good running back competition between cat, jones-Moore, and Hunt. The defensive line is impressing me the most. I really think Tuke is going to turn this D around and along with point average going down, so will other offenses ypg.

Despite the final score of the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, the Rockets' defensive was stellar through out most of the game. They battled their collective hearts out despite the mounting injuries. With the returning talent and the new classes, I'm looking forward to our defense stepping up its game a lot.

I agree that lots of things improved last season, especially considering the injuries. BUT... our D failed to put together 4 quarters in a few games (EMU, NIU, Ball State, Utah State). It'd be nice if we could eliminate 150+ yard quarters. Dan Molls is also gone, and that Defense relied on the 13+ tackles per game. Things will look different this season. I do think Tuke is bringing us in the right direction. Toledo will be a top 5 MAC D this season.

AGREED. It was only 3 or 4 big run plays that Utah State put us away with. We should have capitalized in the redzone when we had the chance to keep the game close.

molls was a good player and reliable tackler but, honestly, his stats were a bit deceptive. he made a lot of downfield tackles and struggled a little against big physical players. i think we may see a little less consistency at his position but there's other players capable of doing the job.
