Have any of you heard anything about Louisville and Southern Miss re-starting our old football rivalry. I have talked wtih our A.D and he told me that him and Tom Jurich have been in talks about renewing the series after the 07 season. I was just wondering if maybe any of you have heard anything like this from you're A.D and was wondering how many of you would be like to see that series renewed. That way you guys have and OOC rivalry like Cincy has with Miami Ohio and USF has with UCF..And No UK series dont count you guys have DOMINATED that series.. LOL

Havent heard anything here but they keep stuff like that hush hush here for some reason. I would love to see that series renewed. We just added a 3 year deal with Temple (Not sure why). I would much rather have USM on our schedule since it was a great rivalry.

Do you have a link for this Temple deal? I know we'll be playing them this year to finish off a previous agreement. There's been no announcement for a new deal, IFAIK.

thanks for ur replies, yeah i would love to see that series renewed too, Southern Miss really doesnt have many rivals. You all know how Ole Miss and Miss State refuses to play us, Our games with Tulane are generaly one-sided, The ECU games were great in the 90's but as of late they too have became more one-sided. And even with all those games between Tulane and ECU none of them games were like the Brett Favre Hail Mary to end the game, or the MILLS kills play.. I hope we renew that rivalry soon

Good Point, And that actually has became a really good series these last couple of years. More for Memphis than for us but Im hoping that since All-World running back DeAngelo Williams is gone we can again get a grip on that series. lol

Here's what we have currently. I am almost positive Zen is right about Temple, this is the last time we play them, as a return of them coming to PJCS in 2003. Right now we have 5 a season out of the Big East.

-Also, home games will be penciled in somewhere with Kansas St & Georgia Tech since they are both a 1-for-1. Expect K State in 2008 & Georgia Tech in 2009.

That basically means that at the earliest we are looking at having 1 game to schedule in 2008 and 2 more for 2009. Southern Miss is not the #1 team I'd like to play but I am like most UofL fans in that I think we'd like to play. While I agree with Jurich that scheduling mid-level teams from BCS leagues is key, as well as at least 1 gimme game a year, why not Southern Miss if we're flying out to Utah? That series was set up after we both finished top 10 in 2004 and should be good, but we have no rivalry and we don't recruit out there.

Don't expect to hear anything about future scheduling from our end until something is officially signed. If Jurich wants the fans to know he occasionally will mention a potential series in the Louisville Sports Report. However, the norm is that UofL acts as if national security is on the line when it comes to preventing rumors about potential future games.

I have much much respect for the Southern Miss football program and would love to continue the series with them. I think it was slowly becoming one of CUSA's premier games. Most of the time when we played it was for the conference championship. USM would be a great ooc game and I'm sure alot of UofL fans would agree. You guys own us in the series and this would be a good time to catch up. ;-)

It would be awesome to have the opportunity to play you guys again, as I have stated earlier. We only have 1 rivalry game right now and that is with Memphis. It would get me excited about hating you guys again. I always respected your football program. It would be fun.
